I have to show this awesome host that leukoplast told me about! 8-)

This thing is solid brass and chrome coated. Very heavy in your hand for it's size...

There is barely be enough room inside the pill for the new version 4 FlexDrive. (9mm X 12mm) As shown in the pictures, I had to trim the threads at the barrel back some to allow more room inside the pill at final assembly.

This build is using a 6X diode set at 186mA's. Here is the power comparison with the two lenses:

* AixiZ acrylic - 175mW's.
* 405-G-1 glass lens - 224mW's! :o

For this build, using the custom lens mod, I got a 28% increase in power vs AixiZ acrylic! :D

Great find leukoplast!

NICE! Any chance of kits coming??! ;D I have a feeling your obssessed with tiny lasers now jay... ;)

Tiny little hosts are cool! 8-) The smaller the boost driver gets, the smaller our builds get! :D

Kits are definitely a possibility!

I could make the custom sleeve for enlarging the module, drill the pill, and shorten the barrel. The only thing is, to stock the hosts, would cost me a lot, because they are over 20 bucks...

Nice mod. Love the looks and how small that baby is.
As soon as I get a flexdrive I've got that Maglight solitare that you modified for me with my suggestions that I'm going to finish up. This is probably the only other light close to how skinny that solitare is.

Pretty sweet 8-)
I would love a kit!

The way I would like to handle it if you want a kit with these ones, is to have you pay $22 dollars up front. (because I don't want to stock this expensive host)

Then I buy the host. I know that this is a long wait, but trust me, this host is awesome and worth waiting for! :) (or send me your sku 15644 host if you already have one)

The modifications that I would do, (make the custom sleeve, shorten the barrel, and drill the pill), are about like making a heatsink.

So I would charge an additional $23 dollars plus shipping for the balance. With a 'Hot option' for a FlexDrive pre-mounted with leads soldered on and the current pre-set for $48 bucks... (But the top piece of tape will probably not stay stuck, so you would have to make sure it is there before you complete the build - see pictures in the first post)

Ken, that Solitaire is nice too, but this little host is 'super nice'! It's very heavy duty for it's size, and 'weighty'. Plus the rear clicky and the chrome finish. It is SCHWEET!

So . . .$93 out the door sans diode and/or battery?

Peace,
dave

That's it Dave! Even with the 'Hot' option, it is still less than $100 dollars for a primo build! :)

For the basic mod, I would only be charging $23 dollars.

There would be an option to include the driver installed with current set, but I would let the buyer supply the battery, module and diode. Although I do have PHR sleds for $15. (sleds only, no harvesting) And AixiZ modules for $5.

Here's a picture for size comparison along side the Pocket Mini and the Key Chain host...

There all nice! :) But that shiny chrome one sure stands out!

Looking good Jay!  Glad you like the host, I figured it was right up your alley due to micro-like size and heavy brass feel.  :)  And boy, it looks like it is just about the same diameter as your keychain host, maybe thinner?

As for the pictures, they just don't do this host justice, I don't think any pictures would.  ;D  It is so much better looking in person. The knurling (right word?) and overall features on this light are very nice, even has a option to thread some rubber into the 3 grooves on the side like the Kryton barrels.  For a relatively cheap flashlight from DX, the quality is amazing, especially the chrome finish and heavy feel.  It definitely will make once fancy laser, that's for sure.   Oh, and just like the keychain mod, the host itself acts as the heatsink right?  How well do you think that will work as far as proper heatsinking is concerned?

I like the light so much that I couldn't resist buying the CR123 version of this a few days ago.  Same look and build, just slightly wider (but shorter) and probably heavier!

BTW, have you tried it with rubber inserts?  I'm just wondering what it would look like or if the rubber would actually stay put.

i ordered the same host from dx 2 weeks ago i was going to do the same thing 8-)

I've got the chrome Pocket Mini style light too. It is very nice with the chrome finish.

About the grooves. They are not deep enough for the rubber inserts like the Kryton. Also, they have smooth chromed edges, so the rubber won't work.

Thanks again for showing me this host! It is definitely one of the sweetest hosts I have tried. A very tight build though...

As you will find out jake21! ;)

Arenared, it is possible to fit a green module in there. I would think that finding one of the smaller green modules is a better choice. Because if you use one of the o-like modules, there would only be room for a 10220 battery, and the supply would be very limited...
Jay

Wow I like this one even more!
Shinier!
And no missions for find batteries!

A kit would be cool.
I'm ready when you are!

Oh nice, how long have you had the CR123 version? I guess you already knew what you were in for when I told you about this host then. :)

And shame about the rubber inserts, although worst case scenario they could be glued in if somebody felt the need to have them. Might be useful for grips, or to match the black dust cap.
