Micro Sized Chrome Host For FlexDrive Build!

You betcha.  If'n you'll recall I indicated I had a module that took a phr diode and reduced the beam diameter from 3 (roughly in an aixiz) to 1.5mm (in the newer module) sacrificing a little power since the lens is limiting.  for those nice projects where you really want a nice looking beam instead of power. (scanner/spyro)

Give it a looksee.  You'll be impressed of the beam shape and size.

They are a bit more expensive than the aixiz modules and come with a 5mw red that you have to push out.  It also has a stopper at the top of the diode to prevent the lens from screwing down onto the diode.  Kind of makes removal a little bit more difficult.  I'm sure you'll drill it out though!  LOL

Matter of fact I think I sent one to daguin as well. Or at least I meant to... Dag, did you get it?

No modules. Last Package was a couple of old style Rkcstrs

Peace,
dave

Bah! ok, well it was my intention to throw one of these in that package.  I'll just have to send a whole seperate package your way for that module alone.  Apparently with all this new knowledge coming in from college, there's no room for the really important stuffs!

I've no doubt you will like the modules since your one of the few that I know that sometimes desires a lower powered pointer. I'll let the module speak for itself.

Hello Jayrob,
I was at the local electronics store and noticed this product. (Haven’t bought it yet)
http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/8331.html
It is a Silver Conductive Epoxy. (Electrical & thermally conductive)
I think it would be a good application to use when bonding the module to sleeve.
(I’m assuming that the micro chrome host will be case negative)

I also searched the “Arctic Silver” adhesive that you used and noticed that it is not electrically conductive.
Just thought I’d share.
Let me know what you think.

*Looking forward to the Micro chrome kit!!! :D

Thanks for the link!

That's good to know in case you need adhesive that is conductive...

In this build, the custom sleeve for the module does not need to conduct electricity, because I am getting the negative connection to the driver from the pill. But that's some good stuff to have on hand. I think I'll order some!

I'll keep you informed about your host that I ordered from DX.
Jay

Kenom has that light and he is planning on a laser modification for it...

I did some light machine work on it for him and it is very similar in size to this 'Micro Chrome' host...

The Solitaire is just a bit smaller in diameter because of the thin aluminum material vs the thick brass of the Micro Chrome host.

It is also a hair shorter because of not having a clicky. But the 'mini clicky' on this Micro Chrome host is very small. Really cool! 8-)
Jay

P.S. Peng, I got your host in the mail today. Sending PM...

Jayrob,
I received the Micro Chrome Kit (Hot Option) and finally put everything together.
The Hot Option made everything extremely easy to assemble. All I really had to do was solder the wires from the driver to the diode and some minor gluing.

It's a great looking host.

Below is a photo of my current collection.
Check out how small it is!

Yeah I was workin on the solitare for a pen laser but I ran into a little snag.  Since there's no button on the tailcap, and the place the driver sits is right at the joint for the head, there's no means of adding a side mount button in the solitare.  The tailcap is too thick and robust to throw a switch in there that I know of.  So, it will have to be a remove the battery kind of host.  :(

OH and daguin, since your not at the same address anymore, if I mailed your modules to that address will you get it?

Nice collection man! 8-)

I'll bet that Micro Chrome is one of your favorites! :)

Thanks for posting back!

Yeah. She's still trying to convince me that it is all a big misunderstanding. Apparently the concept that it is my cell phone account and so I can get copies of the records continues to escape her :-?

Peace,
dave

Hey Kenom, I Drilled a small hole in the bottom of the solitare maglite and made a small steel rod to fit it, I then installed a button and attached a spring to that, then put heatshrink tube over it and put it were the spring and spare bulb went, thus making a switch (I still have to fit a driver in there though).

VERY VERY SORRY FOR THREAD JACKING :-[ (I was just continuing about the solitare mag in Reply-#37)

Devin.
