Micro-Drive laser driver by rkcstr

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

hey rckstr i was wondering, what are the resistor values needed to change 350ma to 400ma>? thanks,

On my driver, 350mA is set with 1x25R5 and 3x12R4 resistors, 400mA is set with 4x12R4 resistors. So, basically you just need to replace the 25R5 resistor with a 12R4. If you're talking effective resistance, it's 3.56ohm for 350mA and 3.1ohm for 400mA.

I got mine last week friday (thats about 1 week shipping) and put it into a barrel ;D

They were so sweet I just had to order a couple more.

so can i expect mine to come within the week like this lucky fella?

Yup, it's done... ships Monday ;)

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

so what is the max voltage on these? even better question, how many volts can a red LD take?

screw volts. These things are all about amps.

Maximum input voltage on these are 16v, though I'd highly recommend staying under that, as higher input/output voltage difference means more heat generated by the chip.

You don't have to worry about output voltage for the diode, it will draw the voltage it needs when you regulate the current.  So, basically, with my driver, you just choose the current output you want, put in enough voltage (but not too much) and you're good.

Also, an update for those who have a pending order... school's keeping me pretty busy until Wed, so I may be slow on getting orders out until then, but I'll still try to get some done in the next two days.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

ordered a 38 and a 400. Thanks rkcstr.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

I am assuming the 400ma one is extremely ineficient for 2 rechargeable cr123's. Right?

that would all depend on the mAh rating. assuming your using 2 batteries with the same mAh rating (which is usually the case), add them together for the total mAh combined, then divide that by 400[mA] and that's how many hours it'll last ;D simple as that!

What are you asking when you say inefficient?  The driver will work with 2 rechargeable CR123's, but it will be putting off siginificant heat at 400mA, especially at the peak voltage of 8.4V. As for battery efficiency, I'm not sure. I've driven a diode with 400mA from 2x CR2 batteries (3.0V ones from DealExtreme), and they'll last for about 15-20min of run-time, I believe.

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

Awesome! A great product! Thanks!
I just ordered 3!
Now I can get the Kenom Barrel I have been waiting for and power it! Yay! Plus a couple other diodes get power yay!

So, I will be able to run my diode for about 40-50 min. Thanks thats all I need to know. (I meant inefficient for runtime and dropoff voltage)

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

so how much does a BR usually put out at 38mA?

Re: Micro-Drive laser driver – fits Aixiz module

Help help help - please :)

I have a BR diode and three of the below diodes.

http://tinyurl.com/5wr4zq

I need drivers for all. I know what I need for the BR but am stumped at what mA rating I will require for the 250mW reds?

I have been waiting MONTHS for Bluefusion (swearword) to get his finger out of his sphincter but to no avail >:(

Any help will gain you a big kiss :D
