Marx Generator!

If the flyback was in resonance then the arcs would be enormous, like 7-9 cm long arcs. But they aren't, because of the way it works.!

I've obtained ~8cm long arcs from the single transistor driver running on only 12V at 4A input. Some fine tuning by the user is required in regards to primary turns and wire length however.

The transistor is just a high current switch, the free-running 555 osc provides pulses to drive the switch, which provides pulses to the transformer, which provides high voltage pulses to the multiplier circuit......
No resonance to be considered.....
No auto-transform or flyback 'topology'.....

Jeeze, talk about over complicating nothingness....

Yawn... go look at a model-T ford ignition circuit (or any other auto ignition prior to the widespread use of cd).

I know what it is. I was just giving some info for a "continuous" output source for HV.

As for any HV application... safety is non-negotiable..

Sure. The WCM style circuit can potentially be a continuous HVDC. On the other hand a Marx impulse generator is pulsed, therefore I'd not like to recommend it.

If this is for making a laser PSU (gas) you'd be better with a Flyback (ZVS) or NST with bridge rectification.

Re-read the posts and you'll find we weren't even talking about the circuit posted.
