Looking for a good 50mW Blue pointer

An old member on here runs a GITD shop that focuses around 405nm's, he has a 45mW+ 405nm pointer for $18 before shipping, and I'm not sure how reputable he is now-a-days (perhaps a vet can chime in here), but his site can be found at:
http://www.405nm.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=43fd450a4a0c48bc38cc865d41dd54f4

Otherwise, and idk if this is an option, but you say your looking for a different color other than the green (532nm), and I know it's a bit of a different turn (especially since the thread title says looking for blue). If you willing to go with a red (660nm Laser) though possibly, joker's got two, 200mW 660nm Lasers he's trying to sell at $50+shipping. If your interested you can find the thread here:

i will take a look thank you :)

i am bassically looking for either blue or violet although red is still missing from my collection too ^^

i will look at the links thanks alot :)

so i finally decided a few extra dollars wont hurt ....

cuz i just really want a blue laser ^^ so i got to this one

mini B - 445nm 50mW Pocket Low Power Single Mode Blue Laser Pointer

i see it's a good vissible and powerful beam

does anyone have any experience with this laser? is it any good? ^^
and how does it work when buying from lazerer when i live in a country that has laws that make these lasers forbidden? will it still get through costums?

I don't have any experience with that laser in particular, but it should. Lazerer usually ships everything with a customs label saying LED Flashlight Valued at $20, just be aware though, anything coming from China usually takes a little while to ship//arrive unless you want to pay extra for shipping costs..

The 100mW costs the same price though, and for $10 more you can get the 200mW so, I'm not quite sure your logic here, but if that's what you want. Go for it.

well... i would want a 100-200mw one but my girlfriend doesn't want me to have anything over 50mw cuz she is afraid i might go blind ^^ there is no convincing her :P

So being her good bf i decided to listen to her ^^

I guess you had already said that. Lol- :p My bad. Just be sure to be safe, have fun, and enjoy your new laser..
Cheers,

well anything over 5mW can blind you so thats 10x more powerful then whats needed to blind you if your not careful. glasses are a must when using indoors or even outdoors if there are a chance of reflections coming back your way.

BTW listening to GFs when it comes to lasers is a BAD idea. my GF bought me a cheap "5mW" 532nm pen and i started using it nonstop and then she said dont buy anymore lasers so i bought a 100mW 532nm laser then a 1.5W 445nm. then i bought some laser hosts and parts. finally bought a 75mW 532nm that im going to rebuild and just bought a 400mW 532nm and in there i built a 650nm ~300mW. picked up a few laser pens as well in there :D

Agreed. I listened to my GF and that doubled my spending. I bought 2x eagle pairs, 2x phrs, 2x lpc-826, driver for each diodes, hosts for each diodes... :D

@OP
Damage from blue wavelengths is cummulative. It is worst to not use glasses with 400~500nm lasers, even at lower powers (50mW) and non-direct hits (like staring the dot in a wall...)

i agree its cumulative at lower powers but IMO even if a laser hits me in the eyes and it doesnt "fully blind" me right away it still can blind you. even if you loose 0.05% of your vision from that one hit, i still consider it "blinding" since my vision would be less than what it was before.

EDIT: ToneLoke, nice copy paste job  i approve :D

Just for clarifications, I didn't mean it would not blind you from a direct hit. I mean that blue can cause chemical burns in the eye, like sunburns, from indirect hits. Burning something looking close, or staring the dot...
Not a specular reflection. I mean diffuse reflection. When the green and red diffuse reflections just leave temporary marks on your eye, blue wavelengths cause cummulative damage...

aw yes..... i should have goggles for my greens ^^

i found that out the stupid way by staring at the dot when it was to close to me -.-'
My vision was poor for about an hour ...... and i noticed that even looking at the dot from a distance can cause an effect as if i watched the sun for a few seconds..

so goggles are gonne be on my list for sure ^^

And thnx for the link to teh goggles i will look into it cuz i don't wanna go blind ^^

This is not good, Your girlfriend doesnt know that 50mW can blind the F*** out of you anyways..Anything over 5mW is dangerous as f***.
Be careful, you only get two eyes.

Oh yes she knows but she doesnt want me to stop doing what i like ao she allowes me to have 50mw eventhough it can be dangerous

But she doesnt want me to have higher powered lasers then that cuz she worries it might go wrong...

She just doesnt want me to get hurt and i think thats really sweet so i listen to her and not go buy a laser higher then 50mw and i will be using goggles
Its kinda hard for her... cuz she doesnt want me to get hurt but she also doesnt want to stop me from doing what i like... so u could see this as a compromise

That's understandable, but 50mW is still super ass strong and dangerous.
And do you have a LPM? How do you know you have verified 50mWs of photonic power? Mostly everything comes over-spec now ah days.

All im saying is that dont let your gf convince you nothing can go wrong with a 50mW laser, cause bad things can happen with a 7mW laser.
