Hello, i have been looking on the internet for a cheap but good 50mW blue laser pointer..

I have 2 30mW green ones and i kinda would like a different color this time ^^

I have been looking on lazerer.com but could only find 1 50mW blue pointer and it was a little bit to expensive...

I'm looking for one around 50$ or less...
And also from a site which i can trust to deliver and trust that the laser is what the site claims it to be

If anyone knows a site that's trustworthy and known to deliver to countries in which these lasers are fobidden(i live in holland)
then please tell me! :)

lazerer doesnt sell 50mW 445nm. your price range basically narrows your possibilities down to zip, zero, nada. a M140 445nm diode alone cost $54 and a PL450B 450nm diode is $46. you wont find a 50mW 445nm laser for under $50 unless it is a used laser and you find a great deal. BTW most 445nm lasers are 500mW or more.

what are you wanting a 50mW blue laser for? maybe we can help point you in a better direction

Thnx for the reply.

I am looking for a 50mw blue laser because i want a laser with a beam vissible and able to burn small stuff just for fun

But mostly because i want a blue laser next to my green ones (i am collecting all colors)

My girlfriend doesn't want me running around with lasers higher powered then 50mw so thats why i want a 50mw one cuz it is the max she allows me to have ^^

Right now i am trying to roder a 50mw violet one from lazerer because i couldn't find the blue one i was looking for ..

you do realize that even if you bought a 50mW from an online store, there is no way to tell the actual power of it without metering it

50mW of blue wont burn much of anything. might pop a balloon or light a match after a while and with the use of external optics but wont light anything of fire per say.

at the moment i wouldnt recommend lazerer due to their recent problems. however all the sites that are trustworthy are going to be expensive so the risk is your choice.

for 405nm id recommend LP 405nm 5-80 or HL 405,445,450nm
i know the second one is 100mW but it has multiple safety features such as remote switch, key lock and a shutter to block accidental beam discharge if for some odd reason you had both the other safety features off. the first one does have a key lock as well but is 80mW

thats my recommendation for a cheap 405nm BUT it will be quality though. lazerer is cheap but quality is hit or miss. Laserbtb is inexpensive and quality in one package :D

EDIT: laserbtb lasers tend to be spot on or over spec on power so if you convince her to let you get the 80mW you could be lucky and get 100mW or on the 100mW version you could get 150mW. i have a HL 532nm 300mW laser from them that does over 400mW :D :D :D :D

Thnx for the reply and info :)
Haha i will try my best to convince her then ^^ wish me luck hahaha
The burning part isnt really an issue its just fun if the laser can burn things like a match
The only thing it really should be capable of is a vissible laser beam in the dark and preferably in dim lit rooms

My green lasers can do that and they melt garbage bags from really close range
I will check your recommendations
Thanks alot :)

You can yet violet (405nm) at low powers like livinloud said. Anything in the blue (455-450) at less than 50mW are going to be way more expensive than a 1W 445. The diodes were sesigned to be operated at higher powers so they dont lase and the low currents.

There ARE single mode 450nm (PL450B) diodes. But they are expensive ($37 from DTR shop, bare diode). A pen using those looks awesome imo. With 3 element glass you can get around 60mW for 100mA, and thats under the datasheet spec current. Meaning you will get a very long life for your diode :)

Good luck and if you build, post your results!

405 is one of the least visible beams of a laser but if dark enough or with fog you can see it

Dude. Lazerer does sell 445nm 50mw mini lasers! If you want to get a blue, spend the extra money on lazerer. They also give you a power chart for 5 bucks.

i dont recommend lazerer anymore and i used to recommend them highly before, as far as the 50mW lazerer, why would you buy it when its the same price as 100mW

Thnx for the reply and info :)

lol just tell her its really a 50mw even if its not, she wont know the difference, just say its definitely not eye safe so be careful, which is true, also say it burns because its blue and that burns better than green, which is also true..

and to girlfriend, if you are reading this over his shoulder,,,just let him get his laser,,, im sure he let you get your expensive nice stuff you wanted that he probably thought you didn't need. Just lake him wear his goggles when he burns :san:

or be completely honest with her,,, do ,,,whatever it is that she really likes and say.. did i make you happy ? you can make me happy by letting me get this laser.. ;)

also side note, 5mw green will be brighter than 5mw blue and way brighter than violet ,, but if you get a 100-500mw 445nm it will be brighter than your green. as for the 405nm it wont be too bright unless you get 500mw or higher because it is lower in the visual spectrum but it wil burn great if its 100mw or higher.

So if i wanted a really vissible one which one would you reconmend?

Green has the best beam
445nm blue is a pretty good beam with decent power... my 500mw 445nm has a very bright beam,, my 1600mw blue has a crazy beam,,,(trust me you dont need that much power for your one of your first burners)
405 wont have a very good beam until you hit 500mw

Thanks alot for the many replies i think i know now what to look for :)

and @firelaser.. my girlfriend almost pissed herself laughting at your post hahaha ^^

i will post it here when i found a laser i think is good ^^

so i was unable to find a affordable blue 50mw laser so i went looking for a violet one

this is what i found

Devil Cyber 405nm - 50mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer

LZCS - Classic 405nm 50mW Focusable Violet Laser Pointer

i checked on laserbtb aswell but most were just to expensive except for the one
Livinloud recommended.. this one

LP 405nm 5-80

are these lasers any good? and which one would be the best option?

it's to abd they are 405nm.. i couldn't find any better at that power
but i think they will be pretty vissible at night?

Hey, here's a tool to calculation of perceived brightness.

click me

IMO it don't works fine for same wavelength calculations. But for 405/445, 445/532, it should work.
