Well, I recently ordered a few non-conventional sizes of Li Ions, and since I'm pretty much covering the whole spectrum, took a few pictures of different sizes.

Please keep in mind that there are varying 25-26000 series cells, and that they are not all the exact same size; coming in 25500 25600 25650s... and the same is true for the 32600s.

This ought to give you a good idea of how big or small a certain cell size is.

Nice done ! I can't spread rep, duh !!

Perhaps here would be a good place to put a reminder that the dimensional naming scheme applies to the bare cell only, and usually will omit the added length due to the protection circuit and optional positive raised contact.

Also the XYxyz represents the following:

The first 2 letters are Actual Diameter Of the Battery in millimeters (mm)
The Last three letters are Actual Length in millimeters (mm)

Protected Batteries size can vary , usually by +5mm..

I could measure them with a caliper but there's so many discrepancies in size from vendor to vendor depending on shrink wrap... Button top or not... Protection circuit etc, this was more to give a general idea of different cells available. If anyone wants specs on any of the cells i have here I will gladly update.

Great job! I know what numbers mean but, it's real nice to see them side by side. +1

Noob question, but 16340's and CR123's are the same size right? So A host designed for 3x CR123's would fit 3x 16340's?

Noob questions, lol:

1) What is the largest cell (available for purchase from a real website, not some "wholesale alibaba page) that can replace a standard 3xAAA holder? (IE, to swap 3xAAA in a holder for 1x Lithium Ion)

2) What are the least expensive 32XXX batteries available online right now?

Most probably a 'C' sized battery (depicted 25500, could also be 26500). The C cell is 60 mm taller than the AAA cells, but since you get rid of the holder this is generally no problem.

You get a similar effect when replacing a 3 AA cell holder with a single D cell - it usually fits just fine.

Thanks  1+Rep!

I will put this to good use.

I already figured out the number sizing first time I got a Li-Ion was an 18650 I stuck my calipers on it out of curiosity, and made the "xx" width "xxx" height connection right away, but I didn't have a point of reference till now on what sizes were available.
I used to just randomly punch numbers near what I need, and see if they make a cell close to that size.

On that note be aware that most CR123's are 3v, and 16340's are 3.7v depending on the charger could be over 4v!
If the device you are using cant take that extra .7v, or 2x=1.4v, or 3x=2.1v (you get the point) you will burn it up!
Figured that out too late with a $70 Fenix Torch I used to have. burnt the driver out in seconds :(
