Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Everyone should get an email from GCO when their units ship. I have almost completely caught up, a lot of people will be getting theirs soon. For now I have to go to a conference in DC until Wednesday, but will be back shipping again after that. Those that made their orders Oct. 7th or earlier for the 'bonus'.
Till I get back, keep it calm ;)

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

im thinking i should get mine within the next 2 days b/c i got the shipping notice on mon. drlava i think i saw somewhere that you said these can be used with ir diodes as well, correct?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

got it :))) but one question to dr lava... how do you put together that glass lens???? does the o-ring seal screw in first, or do you put it in the other way?? i cant seem to get it to start threading right

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Woohoo, got my drivers. 8-) I spent a good part of the day putting together my first blu-ray handheld. It's an 803T, nothing special, but boy is it fun. I have to give a lot of credit to all the people here on LPF for their efforts, especially Dr. Lava. Your drivers are top notch, and despite the communal moaning and groaning about delays, I think we are all greatly appreciative of your continued production of all your products.

Let there be light!

Oh yeah, thanks for the surprise! ;D

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

can you use a 5v 2a power supply for the groove driver?

Got some time here, so I'll reply to a few:

The threads go in first I think but you can try it both ways and see what works best for you. This style of glass lens is a little different than the fully threaded lenses.

Yes, for a red or IR laser. Probably not for a blu-ray since it has a 1V dropout.

Dr Lava,

I received my drivers yesterday. Everything is wonderful. Thanks for the 'groovy' bonus!

cheers,

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Does a FlexDrive, with the flat side of the pot facing the battery contacts, come at maximum or minimum resistance?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

as it comes from dr. lava, it's set half way. I think mine was about 110-120mA before I adjusted it.
Counter-clockwise to increase resistance up, decrease mA
Clockwise to decrease resistance, increase mA

laserkills, PM sent!

Warning! the flat side is set towards the output not the battery contacts. Connecting it in reverse could damage it.

Wait... so it matters how you place it and what it is facing? What do you mean by the flat side?

What matters is where you hook up the battery and diode, not which way the flat part of the pot is facing. It's a 360-degree pot. The know I hooked it up right, because my PHR was working right...until I shorted it and killed it x_x Good thing I have another PHR on the way, already...if jake21 sent it before he went on vacation...But yay, me, desoldering and then more soldering >_< Is there any real use to having a mostly dead LD? Other than it looks kind of pretty? Any real use to it?

So turn it completely around, essentially, and I have no resistance from the pot? Unless I cross the threshold, and hit max resistance? The flat part facing the battery contacts should be minimum resistance?

All the way around to the right (clockwise) would be no resistance from the pot.
Just make sure you're gentle with it, don't turn it farther than it's supposed to go.
Just saw thatyou said it's a 360* pot- i didn't know that- so yeah, once you cross the threshold it'd switch from minimum resistance to maximum resistance.
