Please read your Pm. Thanks.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

So the last time I was reading about the lava drive (long time ago) if you hooked it up to the batteries without a load you would damage the driver. Is this still true?

Yes. It is a "boost" driver. That means that it kicks the voltage/current up until it reaches the output set by the pot. Without a load on, it just keeps increasing the voltage/current until it overheats itself or goes beyond the rating of a component and dies.

ALWAYS have a load hooked up whenever there is power available to the driver. I recommend that you unhook the power or remove the batteries BEFORE disconnecting a load. That way you cannot accidentally turn on the power.

Peace,
dave

correct, the V2 driver has both ranges built into one, has the same input voltage range, will be able to deliver more power, and (still have to test this) should not be damaged by accidentally running it without a load.

Oh because I read this when drlava was just building the V2 drivers. He said still had to test it.

but he tested it and they still get damaged? :(
