I was actually thinking what I posted before I read the post you posted. It just happens to be that you thought they were related (understandably, because it was one after another), when they weren't.
 





Funny project for sure :)

Now ramp it up to a Nd:Yag and make a mechanism that ejects a spent 18650 cell after every shot :D
 
Or better yet... invent a new type of battery that is so LIR that it can literally use all of it's power in one short burst, so you have an extraordinarily powerful laser coming out, *and* the cell actually is spent after every shot =p
 
There's about 35kJ in a 18650. That'd be a rather nasty pulse even for a 1% efficient YAG.
 
Well, yeah, but a 18650 has large enough internal resistance that it can't discharge all of it's energy in one short pulse. But what if we used it to charge a cap... and then released the energy from there?!
 
that way you can spend $100 bucks every time you fire off a ten shots!
That's all we need, to make this hobby MORE expensive

Garoq - thank you sir! We did talk about this months ago didn't we? I even said it if ever turned out into something it'll need a soundboard added making the laser sound. Yes I did it finally, so happy with how this turned out :beer:

Damn I'm sorry, I love no less - nor does shake. I've been sparse on LPF this weekend following this build & catching up on my social life. Sorry about missing you before.

Shake get's the ladies man, that's all there is to it. He's great to have around, thanks for noticing him :beer:
