Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

Ok, thanks.
I'll look into buying one for the meantime, but first I need to see some feedback.

The FIRST barrel run was awesome ! I LOVE the barrels, and this one is going to be better :-) You won't see any feedback per say, until after it is too late to purchase them I am afraid :( Since this is a huge undertaking, with lots of finances tied up in it, he is not coming out of pocket for these, they are pre-sell only... awe, heck - he can tell you more, I am sure ! Check out the previous GB thread - they are incredible !

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

Indeed as Senkat said.  I am a full time student so don't have the resources to pay for this out of pocket.
You can search on the forum in a few of the sections to see referrences to these barrels that some folks have already had the pleasure to put together into fully functional lasers.  I'll provide a few.

those are some awesome posts.

When this gets closer to finishing I'll offer up the option of getting batteries shipped with your barrel as well as a charger so that all you literally will need is a diode. I'm hoping with enough interest in batteries I can use the bulk discount code at DX and save quite a bit on some 18650's and some cr123's

As to the batteries.. The 18650 is only slightly larger than the cr123. Length wise they are pretty doggone close so that won't make any difference as the spring on the bottom can compensate for any battery differences. I was going to suggest to those that are wanting to still use the cr123's in this all you'll have to do is make yourself a easy insert of paperboard or foam to compensate for the size difference. Walmart sells full page sheets of foam that would work awesome for this purpose for $.33 a sheet. and it's only 2mm or 3mm thick. it will be a universal design that will encompass both cr123's and 18650's with little or no modification needed. Ultimately the best way to go is just to use the 18650 with lava's flexdrive and you wont' have any issues.

for those interested in the batteries and charger, I'm looking at http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5776 in bulk for $9.01 for a set of 2 and a charger http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151 for $8.10 in bulk. for a combined price of $17.11

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

I just got my 1st look at one of the 1st run barrels! Greg traded with me. I can't believe how awesome these are! I especially like the way the tail cap with clicky switch goes together. Great job Kenom!

I still have two barrels on order, one 1st run, and one version 2. These are well worth your asking price Kenom! I'm very happy to get this one in advance. Thanks Greg!

Anybody who gets only one of these, will regret not getting more! Highly recommended!!!

geeze, it's getting hard to keep straight who has what information and whether an order is or is not recorded -- here and elsewhere...

For the record, evaporative though it may become:

I bought and paid for 2 barrels of the second batch, on 3/8/08: $50 + $50 + $5 shipping.

I want 2 Super-duper-latest-version LavaDrives but there was no way to order them waaay back when I placed my order. [edit: just ordered them - I think - @ $12 each + shipping]

:-)

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

You did indeed danq.  thanks.  got your order and it's added to my list.  I LOVE the new forum id boxes.  thanks a billion Lava.

Jay, it's all in good fun!

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

I'll probably be adding the lava drivers to the two I ordered, now that I can.

If I don't go with the DrLava Drivers, what driver comes with them (I know the old one was a BlueFusion, but didn't see anything on this one noted)

How long do I have to add the drivers?

I know the group buy was already supposed to be ended, but was extended because of quantity needed.

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

right. I've totally forgotten that I havn't mentioned the other driver with this. Essentially it's going to be something along the lines of bluefusions' drivers but designed by lava (lava designed blue's too) and offered up in a kit form that you have to put together. It will have a professionally printed PCB and the necessary components. What that driver will entail, at this point I do not know as it hasn't been designed yet. (but will be before this completes since lava's doin it) I would imagine it's probably going to be the same thing as blue's with some variations. Honestly the driver that blue has is a very good one, but how can it not be with lava the one designing the components.

Ditto. I think I paid for this barrel. Kenom, can you update post#2 to show paid participants? Thanks!

Thanks thats the info I needed.

I'll be adding the DrLava Driver because I'm not going to try to solder one of these until I've tried a few I know are working and have a little more experience under the belt.

Thanks again

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run.

I'd be happy to update the thread with paid participants but I don't know who everyone is before I had the UserID box.  so i can post transaction #'s for those I don't know.

Check that, I'm going to be sending out emails to those that don't have forum ID's in thier orders to fill in the gaps. When that is done I will post a complete list of paid orders thus far.

Two questions:

1. Any update on cut-off date on these?

2. Have you posted the paid list (I should be on for two) that I just missed, or are you still working on it?

Thanks
