Laser as heat source for quartz

I got banned for spamming when I tried to ask this before so I would appreciate it if an admin could help me not lose my account
I just want to know if it’s possible to use a high power laser to take a dab. A dab as in cannabis extract usually called wax or shatter it’s like the resin of the plant. I want to use a laser to vaporize it. People use puffco s electronic rigs and blowtorches but A laser is what I have in mind

Probably. However, there is no practical way to control heating of this dab. You will end burning perhaps catching it on fire even instead of gently vaporizing I would think. And one more thing high power lasers present a significant vision risk. Forget the idea.

I don't understand the quartz part either. Lasers are only able to heat an object if that object can absorb the light it puts out. If the light is transmitted through or reflected off the object it doesn't cause the molecules to vibrate enough to cause heat. It is the energy of the laser light that is transformed into heat by its absorption.

Thanks for the response it helps to have someone respond saying forget the idea lmao. Quartz is the material used on a lot of nails connected to water pipes that people heat up so I attached some photos of quartz “bangers” I understand the problem with a transparent one so I looked for dark ones that were authentic. I understand the vision risk and I’m aware of proper vision safety etiquette with high power lasers.

Quartz is the material I am trying to heat. People use titanium, quartz, glass, ceramic etc. connected to water pipes. so I attached some photos of quartz “bangers” I understand the problem with a transparent one so I looked for dark ones that were authentic. Never heard anyone call pot addicting. It really isn't. In the 1960s everyone I knew smoked pot and it was literally a social thing. I don't like it myself and quit smoking it by the time I turned 18. It would only make me stupid and sleepy. I have yet to meet a pot addict though I have know hundreds who have smoked it in my life. It is legal here too. If you are at least 21 years old you can walk into any number of dispensories and buy as much as you can pay for.

Idk if this has been stated but I have to urge caution when it comes to shining a laser at glass. TIR and unpredictable optical properties could result in potentially damaging beams exiting the piece of quartz at an unexpected angle. Interesting project idea though, where it’s legal!
