Kryton Grooves coming back!

They are 25mm in diameter. The entire host is one giant heat sink.

I don't think there is anything thin about it. The Krytons are pretty beefy.

an inner diameter of 18.5 and outer diameter of 25mm, so the walls are 3.25mm thick. That's a lot of aluminum. The head is direct diode style, which screws into the barrel, so the entire thing acts as one giant heat sink.

Still there are cheaper and beefier hosts outthere. Besides the rate of heat transfer from head to bottom of the host in it will be less than the heat transfer in a thick heatsink (where heat will be spreading in all directions almost equally) of let's say SAIK which will cost you 35 bucks ( host and heatsink plus pill, including shipping). Again, I am not trying to discourage anyone, simply trying to understand what is so special about these.

If this gets going I'll consider buying one to try out.

The Saik is a flashlight adaptation.

The Kryton is a purpose built host. It is far more aesthetically pleasing.

Originally these were intended for a130 diodes that weren't really pushed past 1.2A (AFAIK). Still I have had a diode in one at 1.8A without any problems, or short duty cycle.

Edit, IMO, the only nicer hosts like this out there, are the Ehgemus variations. If this GB goes well, maybe we can look forward to some variations on this host too.

Good to know. Thanks. I have a similar host to kryton which is just lying around. I was hesitant to use it for anything high output. I guess I'll give it a try.

These are popular because they're simple. They provide more than enough heat sinking for decent duty cycles. A Saik would certainly keep it cooler longer, but the saik is one fat host, not very practical to carry it around with you.

You forgot the custom focus adapter to match, and you were already $10 over. You also forgot the cost of your module (these are made for direct diode)

I think people also just like the look of them, whether it's plain, anodized, or decorated with rubber grips and o-rings..
They can also be sent to Kenom for a really nice finish.

Another picture pulled from google image. These don't have focus adapters on them.

Personally, I've got a giant hard-on for the red/black marble finish. If we get this going i'll prob be sending one to kenom for myself.

The red black is easily the most attractive there.

Also those grooves... you can get GTID inlays from Fiddy for them, and/or have it polished up...

The polished one is a Kryton Smooth, but still looks incredible :D

So come on guys! $25 for a freakin Kryton Groove!

If you can get them down to $25, I'd be happy to up my order to 2.
At that price point, i'll have to bug Kenom about sprucing up at least one of them. :eg:

I REALLY want to get these made. So even if we don't get enough buyers I'll probably just put in my own money. Just have to talk to Wife into it. She doesn't like it when I suggest spending a couple thousand on laser stuff.

That should be a fun conversation. :D It's good you both know first aid though.

This is a great price and I would love to join Moh, but I need to cut down on laser spending :p

I'm just a little worried about the ol Chinese quality. I'm down for a couple, but is hate to get them and have a crappy thread job or some off center clicky which brings up more questions. How good will the switch be? The snugness of the diode bore. I really hate that saying you get what you pay for... I prefer the saying that's a diamond in the rough.

shit shit shit i am so broke from laser stuff right now...................... soo broke and 25$ how in the world ? moh if you buy them up so it gets going will you consider selling one later on to me? (for a profit of course)

So far everything had turned out nicely from them. They are the same people who machined the c6 sinks, and those blck focus adapters

Hey Moh,

Sorry to bug you. could you please reply to my pm?

Thank you in advance.

I'll jump in for 3. Just got back from my 2nd week off in 7 years... !!!
