killed my first m-140

Sorry for your loss :( I also killed quite a few M-140's :( I belelieve like 5 or something danm stupid. I think i killed them in any possible way :p static electricity, not shorting the driver etc. But i was a noob in electronics when i started this hobby :)

I killed a M140 by falling it on the ground. I was holding it in my plier and suddenly the diode snap out and onto the ground. The glass windows was intact but the impact has damaged the innards.

well considering i've been in the hobby for about 9-10 months with no issues i'd say i'm doing quite well. :p

. I also clean the window and lens before each use. I have taken many pictures of raw output and unfocused... When I notice my 2W start to degrade I will post about it...

trust me shane, leave the lens on and touch that window as little as possible. once clean, and with the lens screwed in, the window won't get dirty. every time you expose that window you're asking for trouble imo

I wonder what general output I'll reach at 1,35A with an M140
-_- These posts are starting to annoy me.. It depends on the efficiency of the diode you receive.. The only way of telling is by measuring it with a calibrated Laser Power Meter..

I obviously don't have one.

There's a chart stating the power with a G-2 lens, so I wondered if there was one for a 3 element lens

Subtract ~15%

Of course, even that is virtually meaningless with regard to a particular diode

A general average of outputs says nothing about any one diode except that it will "probably" fall **somewhere** in that range

Peace,
