That seems extremely amazing at 28 dollars for a thick/solid housing that bolts together!

Yes i remember them being More then $30 but not 100% sure how much they use to be. Maybe someone will jump in if they remember.

Either way this Price is amazing for what you get.:)

You would be better off contacting the same seller that holokid buys from..
You can get a semi-working 473 for 35$ and get all the goodies that come inside..

This holokid seller buys them for <35$, parts them out and sells the guts, housing etc..
He may be selling them a hair cheaper but from the original seller you get all the bonus
internals..

Non-Functioning 473 nm Blue Laser, DPSS, BWB-10-OEM | eBay

He also sells them without the driver board to save $$$

Wish i new that before.:banghead:

O well it still a good deal. But i might contact the guy you are speaking of.

When you say semi working. DO you mean it will laze.? But just needs some fine tuning to make it perfect.? Is it the same unit that Xplorer877 Got and fixed up.?

Edit:
This one.??

Actually depending on what you say i will buy one.:D I would not mind pay ~$35 for a 473nm.

Thanks WB.

I picked up 30 of them and all but 5 worked... Most have
a mode issue or are underpowered.. I bought them to get
my hands on some 473 internals to play with..

I spent about 4 hours per laser in attempt to improve the working
units and the crap ones just got parted out. Its a good opportunity to
play with very sensitive alignment. I have 3 good ones that I was able
to get 50-80mW. IIRC the best from the batch peaks at 90mW then settles
to 80mW. Mind you the alignment is a PITA..

Talk to the seller, but as far as I know they are working units sold for parts
because of anomalies in the beam.

For each laser you get:

-1 set of anamorphic prism pair AR coated for 808
-2 TEC's plus mounts
-1 1.5W 808 cmount
-2 multi element lens assemblies
-1 IR filter
-1 5pc labby housing

A much better deal IMO, but it comes down to weather or not you
have a use for all the extras..

If you buy more than one, just keep the best for a 473 and use the other
for your project :D

Great idea, I saw those on ebay but never thought of using them for that.

I bought one of the $75.00 versions that works well. But having the parts and cases for that is an awesome idea.

Just realized I forgot you also get 2 crystals... A good buy for sure :san:

Yeah I bought 4 of those broken lasers, and they're really quite nice, and well worth the extra money over that holokidd housing. Even the driver can be used for parts, such as the large aluminum heatsink for heatsinking your mosfets or regulators. Plus, you get all the optics, including beam shaping prisms and lenses for IR if you're interested in that, mounts for the optics, and even the power sensor + metal mount on front that the holokidd housing omits. I estimate that the optics alone are worth more than the entire laser's asking price. Finally, you can use the raw power supply that comes with the laser for other purposes if you need an AC-DC power supply.

Thanks Guys for letting me know about the better choose. I also bought one of them.:D

I also added that ebay link in the OP as a Better deal.:)

Another quick point.. The prisms in these are coated for 808
but that doesnt mean you cant use them for a 445nm..

You see about 30% loss, BUT the output is phenomenal when
used with 445...

Its also a very simple setup.. You can experiment without mounting
them as they already come epoxied to its own aluminum mount.

I owe you some Rep for all the Help WB.:)

I was plaining on doing 1 into a 445nm lab and another one a Surprise.:shhh:

Believe it or not i dont own 1 Lab an i have been wanting to get one but could not decide on anything so i decided to go DIY.

Cant wait.:)

Iam even more excited to use the prisms Now that you mentioned them.

THanks:beer:
