Just seen these back up. Lab Housing.!!!

Hey the housing i ordered arrived today it came in a box no protection or anything
bit dusty a lot of scratches and wires clogged in the back and fine other then that.
It also has a infrared filter glued over the whole were the laser will pass through.

Exactly how mine came. ;)

For those who purchased a 'working' laser, I do not advise it
but removing the APC, the LD doesn't see more than 850mA.

The LD can take it from what ive seen and tried on more than
30 of these. The only thing is the TEC's are going to draw more
and the head will eventually warm up.. The driver gets pretty hot
as well.

I have run the ones ive kept up to 3 hours and no problem. Just add
a small fan to the driver board and the temp stays low. The head
I just placed on a larger piece of aluminum also with a small fan
and they run fine..

From what i've seen with the LD in these, .8A isn't going to take much
life away, that is unless the unit you get already had many thousands
of hours on it, and that's the gamble.. there's no way to know.

I will have to make a thread for these as I spent a couple of weeks
tweaking and tuning up several. These are a PITA to get the 'feel' for
but fun to experiment and learn on..

Just remember that there are 2 types of IR present when you take
the cap off and run them.. Get goggles

Thanks For the Information WB.:) Looking forward to that thread.

+ < Finlay it let me.:D

Thanks WB,
I went ahead a managed to fit the power board inside of
an old atx PSU... Now its got a fan also. So I feel
alittle bit more confident that it will be alright without the front part.
Getting 50mw outta it again. Ran it for 2hrs just now with not much heat.
Now it works great with a starfield cap in front...
Now I got Hundreds of 473nm beams
Well until it burns up lol..

^^ nice pics

The heat is only an issue for the driver when you remove the APC..
I'm assuming it has to do with the driver feeding more current to the TEC's
and some extra current to the LD..

Like I mentioned above, I will make a thread sometime soon when things
calm down around here a bit.

I have had units from the same seller with mode issues and low power
that just needed some TLC and were putting out 30-50mW, so there is
a ton of room for improvement on these. If you get one that is not very
stable I have had several units that had the mount for the crystal set
break away from the TEC and in other cases TEC's which had splt in
2 for whatever reason..

Anybody attempting alignment on these, its not hard, just time consuming.
On the first few units I probably pulled a few hundred hairs out of my head :banghead:
But for 35$ you cant go wrong if you are the type to learn 'hands on'.

Reading only gets you so far IMO, the best way to learn for me will always
be to break things down and make them better :D

It comes down to how much time one wants to invest in the process..

Now you all are making me wonder if I shouldn't try my luck with at least one of these. 30 - 50 mw is worth a lot of time investment from me. :)

Worth every penny even if you get a completly broken one, still get all kinds of goodies,
Luckly I got a good one that puts out 50 mw without the front piece restricting it. But I also have a fan on it.. Ran for 3 hrs stright yesterday, Every few mins the brightness would drop, but come right back after a sec or two.
