Wheres the other pump source gone ? Ring cavity lasers usually have two pumps, no?

A. This isn't a ring laser
B. There is no reason that a ring laser needs 2 pumps beyond the reasons any laser needs 2 pumps
C. The laser is designed for only a single pump, however the higher power versions have 2 pumps
D. The rocks are to remove the moisture from the LBO section of the cavity which is sealed with a lens tube

Silica gel.

"When a visible indication of the moisture content of the silica gel is required, ammonium tetrachlorocobaltate(II) (NH4)2CoCl4 or cobalt chloride CoCl2 is added. This will cause the gel to be blue when dry and pink when hydrated."
