Me too-- only one at the homesite looks distorted.

The new Pro PL-C listing has a ton of pics- its AFAIK the old PL-D with some changes.


And for the Quality/warranty and coolness factor $185 for an overspec 1W 445nm PL Jetlaser-- seems to be a good price. :beer:

Hope everything is going great with all of you.
Sorry i wasnot here often after the Chinese holiday. Thanks Hak for starting this GB#7.

Sorry that the PL-D Pro is still on the testing process. We're testing the new activation codes to make sure the switch doesnot fail.
As is told by Hak, PL-C Pro doesnot look different from PL-D Pro except the keylock of PL-C PRO is replaced by 'superswitch" for PL-D Pro. The tailcap is the same. Metal button. Push constantly on/off.

You see PL-C Pro has no special features. PL-D Pro pricing is a bit higher than that of PL-C Pro though PL-D Pro has neither fan nor Tec employed within since we find it too difficult to modify the existing hosts for the Tec cooling. I will post pics of PL-D Pro asap.

PL-E is a new series with new design, bigger in size and still use the 'superswitch'. Still powered by a single 18650. With air forced cooling, the heat flow will be bettered and it might be no problem to leave the laser continuously on for 5mins or a lot longer per use. If the heat flow issue is not well resolved with first version of PL-E, jetlasers will go straight to PL-E PRO---adding TEc cooling since we've have people machine an optional battery tube for a single 26650. You know Tec also heats a lot and thus eats the battery. To ensure the battery life, 26650 might be a better option. Of course, PL-E, whose hosts are still being machined, will be later to come than PL-D Pro.

I already got my order in... Gray is pushing his techs to build a 600 532 for me.and he said it will be a proto of the next host they will be using, so it looks like ill be getting the first one
!

Sorry Paul for keeping you waiting and yes, we're done some tests and will let u know when 600mw is stably achieved.

This may be a silly question, but are the 650's DPSS? I'm assuming that's the case due to the high power.

Sorry for the confusion. Not DPSS. We use a 1w 650nm diode supplied by a domestic vendor.

I've pm'd gray about the new PL-D a few weeks ago, was going to buy it anyway but if it's included in the GB might be able to afford a higher power! Am i right in thinking i wont be able to get GB prices/shipped until the GB is full? Or because it's shipped separately it would get shipped as soon as payment is made?

Sorry Tonga. We only have a few Ti-B housings left in stock and you can email us if u want another one and as far as i know, only available in 300mw 445nm.

Sorry, hah. we only have very limited crystals good for 500mw+ 532nm left and for 600mw, we have to wait for the new batch of crystals to arrive. That's why i advise ≤500mw levels for 532nm options. Thanks!

I think he was saying that the PL-D is not ready now--not 'now ready now'

Trust Gray as he must try to balance our needs and wants with keeping his bosses at JETLASERS happy.
In the past, in order to meet demands of getting a new model asap the testing was not as totally complete as Gray would have liked.. Be assured that JETLASERS wants to fully test before shipping and to be is a rush to get what you want may not be totally wise. It is a trade-off as JETLASERS pays for return shipping and thus it is unfair to expect your model to be fully tested and at the same time be sent as quickly as you want.

So please try to be happy with what is available and realize that pushing for something else may, in the long run, not be such a great transaction. This has happened at least twice with those insisting on the 600mW 532s- Trust me the 500mW is a wiser choice and wiser still IMHO would be to get two 250/532s.

Thanks Gray for this post-- I do have a question about the tailcap push button on the new PL-C Pro-- is this the same as the one on the old Ti-B?? press and hold for momentary and tighten for constant on??

What kind of laser are we looking at with the 800mW 650nm? What diode is this using and what does the dot look like? I assume it is multimode? Does it have adjustable focus?

Seems like it would be an EVIL burning laser based on my experience with 250mW of 650nm.

Am I missing something, or am I even asking the right questions?

That seems like a great deal. I can get 500mW of green a lot of places at less $ - probably less quality, but less money. But I don't see 800mW of 650 anywhere that I have looked...

Someone set me straight on all of this!

Well... I remember Gray saying they use a 1W 650nm diode to make 800mW.
and they sell only overspec as most lasers lose some power after break-in- thus it wil NEVER be underspec- crap companies overstate actual power which only gets worse in time. I dont see the advantage buying a lower quality 500mw 532 that lacks the excellant customer service and warranty of JETL units- and JETL will pay you back for any shipping cost should it every need replacing or repair during the warranty period. (6 months)

If you send these questions to Gray(JETLASER username here at LPF) he will confirm my answers(or not) and maybe even have a video made showing the 800mW in action on YouTube. He has done this before.

I had a 650nm IIRC 400mW and afaik the dot was nice- not boxy like the C-mounts in JETL 635nm 200 or 400 mW or like all 445s.


I have never seen this 800mW as it is new and was not offered for the other GBs.

The two reds in my avatar are JETL C-mount 635nm 200mW.

Sorry for the confusion on PL-C pro or PL-D pro.
They both are focusable, no much different from the 'external' focusing in PL-C or PL-D.
Sorry that i havenot added any pic of PL-D Pro, the finished model of which was scheduled to be available early this week but a small gasket needs to enclose the 'superswitch' to tighten the drilled hole for PL-C Pro keylock. We are maching it in batches locally. It will be in place soon.

Regarding the 650nm 800mw, we uses a 1w diode from a Chinese supplier and the beam profile is rectangular and the divergence is around 2.0mrad. I guess the 'chip' in the diode are all made in US.

For 532nm portables, we have to stick to nlight 2.5w ld for higher quality and we've learnt our lesson well in trying out other 808nm diodes for the limited PL-D sold. Though the diodes were well-chosen, the instability in beam quality, wavelength and thus output happens often.

When will the final payments be due with this GB? Depending on the date Ill get one of the PL-D's... 300mW or 400mW again it will depend on the final payment due date.

Dammit I wish this could have happened a month ago, I already bought myself a fancy laser this year. By the time I get bored with Devil Rifle V2 in a few months maybe Jet will surprise us. Can't wait to see what you all end up with!!!!!

both the new pro styles ARE focusable..
all except 405 & 445 use a single 18650=
two 16340s or primaries for the B and BR.

Those new to my GBs are encouraged to ask any questions you have by contacting my past GBers. If you lack patience GBs may not be for you.

I had a PL-D 445/1000(old style) and a 1.2 cree build and the cree was 140$ built for me and for 45$ more Now the new Pro PL-C with the crown like the PL-D focusable, overspec (for ever) $185 GB price looks like a better deal.
