Jetl GB#7 is CLOSED all pymts in all funds sent to Gray

Well folks I know I told you I'd let you know when mine showed up. It made it last Friday just as Hak said it would. The bad news is mine is still acting up. I'm working with Hak and Gray on it. Hope to have a solution soon, but it looks like his one is going to have to go back. It's a shame because I LOVE the host...solid as a rock, has the smoothest threads I've ever felt on the tailcap!

I have no worries though, this will get worked out and I'll try to keep everyone up to date.

The 532 PL-Es only require one 26650 correct?
And hak do you have any 26650s on hand or know of quality ones online?
you can use one or add the tube and use two
I think it's 2 now.

Is it neg to the rear or front Hak ? You have it both ways.
Sorry- positive to the tailcap on all JETL- & they all have reverse polarity protection too
I was looking at the JetL website for an answer to the battery question and it has some info on the PL-E V2 Here is what it said.

Are we going to be receiving this improved version of the PL-E? :takeit:
JetL tells me that the two 700.532 will have the V2 upgrades THAT atm are working OK- some features are not quite ready- so I guess these two 700s will be partly V2- should be more stable.
Oh and has anyone else noticed that the ad for warn laser at the top of the page shows what looks like a PL-E for their 1.5W 445?

3.7v/5000mAh (Tested and confirmed on other forums @ 4500mAh) Trustfire's - 2 x $18 w/ free air shipping - 2 PCS TrustFire 26650 3.7V 5000mAh Li-ion Rechargeable Battery Colorful - BuyinCoins.com
OKay-- just remember the Pl-E was machined to allow the slightly longer 'button-top' batteries(protected cells) so a small 'spacer' ( like the magnets found in the lens cover of the Kasio PJs) needs to be used (between the two batteries) when using 'flat topped' 18650s 0r 26650s- it needs to be very carefully placed on the very center of the batteries to avoid any other contact & thus a possible short-

I have seen this same arrangement with other lasers & JL really has no choice- as a shorter size that fits flat-tops perfectly, would not be good for button-tops-

-also ANY charger made for 18650 can be 'altered' to use for charging the bigger 26650s- two 'jumper' wires is one common way- you can also charge batteris with a bench power supply- but care whatever method you use.

He is part of an email that came today.
some of it may be a little confusing....

The PL-E 700mw 532nm is working with fan but the heat flow is not good enough.
(this is me>>)the guys needed to know what duty/rest cycle you suggest.
just to be on the safe side.

Yes, there's been much testings on the PL-E 532nm while now we removed the fan cooling and that makes PL-E a regular portable of his size. The reason we removed it is coz we found the much tolerance of some mechanical parts machined inside affects the performance of fan cooling efficiency. It cannot improve the temperature stabilization as much as we expected, so we decide to remove the fan cooling and

So a PL-E with natural air cooling might be stable within 3mins.
Speaking of duty cycle, it is still continuous. You can run it for 10mins but the power will drop.
For 445nm, you can leave it on continuously like 10mins or 30mins while the stability is a lot better than 532nm since the current is not much while 445nm is not as temperature sensitive as 532nm.
**********************
I understand that waiting is a PITA- as you get older you learn to tolerate waiting or not-- Like ordering something from WL- order it and forget= counting the days make NO difference on the arrival date.. AS JL always pays shipping both ways on returns I fully can appreciate them NOT shipping until completely sure that returns/repairs will be kept to a minimum.
This is a GB we are AFAIk one this one getting free shipping and the list on the PL-e 700/532 is $800- we are paying 680$ so plz keep that in mind and also the fac that Gray mst deal with us- his bosses AND his techs who do the builds-
You can be sure he has not told the builders to just take thier time-
JL outsources the machining- they buy drivers- not build them..so getting changes done takes time. If the host is not correctly done they can only try to get all correctly made parts. This would all be not affecting us if JL were just a drop shipper.
.....
The use of fan cooling to the current pl-e proves to be pain in the ass while we're machining new parts for the assembly, we might increase the size of PL-E to the size of Hercules or the like. Will save PL-E and make up to the initial PL-E buyers.'

We also discard the Tesla-cool for PL-E since it is too not worthy to stick to a tesla-cool which lowers the current and thus power for excessive heat after so much efforts trying to make it a laser with a stable output. Though PL-E is not up to the expectation and stripped of active cooling for the moment, we will add the cooling to the changed structure very soon. We know the buyer dont buy PL-E for its look and wish not it is another version of PL-D.

Ways are tested to improve the stability but there are changes that have to made in the inner and outer, so we've got to ship the current version of PL-E.
Sure we will ship you two 5v5a wall adapter and 8V5A adapters.

I fully understand that while this does answer some questions , more have come up.

more info and tracking # asap- when that will be is atm not known.

According to this review, this is indeed a button top protected cell..??

So they are going to ship us the PL-Es w/o fans or any method of active cooling?

I myself would like to keep waiting for the version of PL-E with active cooling that Gray keeps saying they are working on. Waiting for what I initially paid for sounds better to me than settling for a normal 532 laser in an over sized host.

^^ I understand completely what you are saying... but if the extra active cooling is at the sacrafice of a stable beam- or the fan/tec takes too much of the available power or worse-creates more heat rather than less....

The PL-E IMO is not just an oversized host- its size DOES allow for an oversized Heatsink- and better driver too. IT allows us to use two 26650s- and they allow us a much longer time between charging- It would make no sense for JL to NOT send the BEST 700/532 they can so if that means a fan is not needed then sobeit. Thier reasons for making any changes to the original design is soley for the good- not some way to save $$..

TECs and Fans work great on lab lasers- by design they can do the job well because the fan is normally on the back of the heatsink & its fins and the TEC us under the heatsink..-
- Another issue that came up is the venting for the air flow- and also the dust that will be pulled into the laser and some of it end up in places where we dont want any dust.. In any event if the 700/532s do not live up to your expectations- in regards to stabilty and output you will be free to return to JL at no cost to you--

The purpose of active cooling is... good cooling- not just to have a fan or TEC-- its the effect these wll mke on he overall quality of he final product..

Some time things that seem great o thoery just dont work out in the fianl product- he PL-E is not a copy of some other laser that DOES employ active cooling successfully they are afaik all new.

the goal is continious use-- no overheating- good stability--& a solid 700+mW-- DPSS is much harder to work with than diode lasers-- just follow the story of the WL 1W 532s-- at the price they asked too.

Be sure of this- I will not be re-shipping your lasers IF they do not pass my tests.. len

I understand that completely, and I guess I hadn't considered ALL of the issues that have come about from adding a fan or tec. I was focusing on the host not venting well enough. I will take a stable laser over an actively cooled non-stable laser any day.

I thought of a question, Will the extension tube be included or do we have to pay extra for it and how much extra would it be?

You should get the extension tube along with the PL-E-
The first one sent to me had 'plastic sleeves' to reduce the ID for using 18650(s)
IDK if you will get those or some other method- I will ask.

I left out somethings about this new host PL-E- unlike the lasers we are used to - the PL-E has internal focus-- the part that moves the lens closer is all internal- and very smoothe too.
Also I really like the ac/dc- port and the free wallwart- so around the house ETC you do not need to use batteries at all.

hope to be sending out the tracking number SOON-- I have a 1+W 532 analog labby coming and I am itching to check it out!!

thanks all be being understanding about the dreaded 'Wait'

Once our box is in the hands of DHL Express China - these will be at your door within 7 days tops. I will re-ship the next biz day after doing a good inspection and a graphing LPM test.

Hello guys, hope you are all doing great.
Deeply Sorry for being so late for the thread without delivering any GB item at all yet.

Actually the 700mw have been made in dozens for long but they didnot work out the expectations, so we planned to add the fan to the 700mw but the fan cooling didnot work out the effect desired due to the flaws/tolerances in our machined parts. It usually takes a lot longer to wait for the new machined parts, so we tried to make the best of the existing structure and hosts and didnot leave the fan there to be a pain in the ass.

The fan will be available in the next version of PL-E. I know it is so bad for you that the reason that make you wait for like decades is mostly the 'active cooling' as advertised on the jetlasers site. It is more terrible to be dishonest and bragging about the lasers with ads than making a laser with more 'balanced' and decent quality by living with the existing and limited resources.

We removed the fan and have been testing to make a regular PL-E with natural air coolling work more stably and sure with continuous duty cycle. Now the results are not all bad while though there are fluctuation of output powers, but they can maintain the advertised duty cycle of 'continuous' and can run till the batteries run out. The stability is also not all bad. It is very normal for a temp.-sensitive DPSS green, you know.

I will update links for every laser shipped based on a 10mins or 20mins test anyway.

BTW, The current for 700mw is around 2.75a, so a full charged 4000mah 26650 might suffice to power the laser for a while, like 20mins or so. Better with two 26650s or 18650s.

As is confirmed with Hak, the shipping list for each item is as follows:
1. 1X 5V5A or 8V5A wall adapter
2. 1x 26650 4000mah battery
3. 1x recharger
4. 2pcs of case reducer/dark sleeves : 18650/16340 to 26650 host) or O-rings
5. The extension battery tube
6. The laser

We will ship the GB lasers right away and update more.

We really appreciate all the patience you’ve given Hak and us and it means a lot more than merely selling a few lasers.

best,
Gray

the head with drilled fan holes is not going to be used for the moment coz it is no good.

Thanks for the updates Grey.

One thing though, I thought Hak wasn't going to have you ship batteries with these? Or am I just confused. (Quite possable these days :) )

^^^ I was unsure too- however because we are going with the very best shipper DHL Express I am not worried about the batteries (if we are getting them).

UPDATE-- Gray has 'split' shipped- no complete lasers and batteries in same box.
We did this that way back in GB #4 IIRC> My personal practice is not to send parts that can be made to lase with what is in the same box. No probs with sending batts w/o lasers across borders.- CONUS N/P.
Our lasers have been split into two boxes- one went out very early this moring and the other *should* be handed over to DHL within the next 48 hrs- SO>>>> I will be watching for 'out on truck for delivery' on Monday- the second box will be here the next day- DHL works 24/7 until the boxes hit Houston ....then its M-F- no delivery on Sat. I am giving the tracking #s to those in the GB(not here)

My item in this box is a lab laser so any batteries we get go to youse guys!!
The Pl-Es will run from a single 26650 or 18650- and longer with a pair- IIRC Gray is sending one for each PL-E- so you need to get a second one- looks like the charger is included too.
plus the wallwarts.
The upside to the delays looks to be not only better tested & performing units but we MAY be treated by Gray/JL on the dhl shipping costs( about $100 PER box )
So have ~20$ in your PP acct to cover the reshipping-(DO NOT send as payment for goods- It a 'personal' pymt for services-
I will send PP/shipping info along with your LPM results.- via your email.
and NEVER use the word 'laser' anywhere in Paypal.(<---EVER)
the PL-Es will NOT fit in a small box- There will be signed delivery and of course, insurance added- (anyone at home can sign).

I will be relieved only when these are in the buyers hands and all is GOOD.

Awesome news Gray! And thanks hak for keeping us informed.

Now to order some batteries :lasergun:

Hey James. Sorry for the confusion. Yes, Hak didnot plan to have jetlasers ship the batteries at first but now it is not that difficult to ship them via DHL from China. Some 26650s were sent. Will try to ship batteries every time.

Thanks! :)

Awesome news Gray! And thanks hak for keeping us informed.
Now to order some batteries :lasergun:
haha...
The batteries were shipped for free and it should be added for each laser but DHL used to reject batteries' shipment.
700mW pl-Es were shipped in another DHL shipment last night and i will keep Hak informed of the tracking number.
Thanks! :banghead:
