im using LG 20x DVD burner diode, please help!

What do you mean DDL's driver was useless. You're just too stubborn, if you would just change your host, everything would work perfectly. :-/

I don't understand why you need Daedal to prove anything. Many of us are using the LM317T as per his instructions. If you wired it up correctly it will work.

There are literally hundreds of current regulators on the market. But you will have to look for them. Can't you buy a prepaid debit card?

i dont waste my time to build my host then just change it with that battery reason?!, everything in this world is possible, if you believe on it, now if your saying change my host, its another waste of time and money, ide rather be searching for some other regulators that can be used. i will post this project after im done with this.i will include also the video as my proof..... 8-)

Look all I'm saying is that it'd be a lot simpler to just choose another host. You can do whatever you want dude, it's your laser, your money, your choice.

ok i understand, its fine with me thanks for your suggestion, i try my best to make this project work fine.

Well all I can say is good luck with your host...and I do mean that sincerely. I will be interested to know what you come up with.

hey guys this my new DDL LD driver with the homemade collimator using acrylic lens, apoligize to the blurry image, i dont have high pixel cam :)

Re: im using LG 20x DVD burner diode

this time im using Gazoo and chido ideas, im hoping and praying to get my success here and in my new host. ::)

Wow...that looks great. Only thing is you are using a 2.8 ohm resistor. This will drive the LD with 446ma's. I am sure it will run for awhile but don't let it get too hot. Your mw's will be appx. 300 using an acrylic lens 8-)

Edited: Oops, I noticed you do have a trim pot..lol

i will put best heatsink on it, then before i put the LD on it i make sure that the trimpot is in control and tested to reach the sweet 400ma, right Gazoo?

446 mA ??  He needs an open can diode !!
Looks like a nice mounting job but minimal heatsinking ---

Right on.. :)

forget the first host i post i am making a new homemade host, actualy i have the 20x open can burning diode for that so i wont worry about the mA, im trying to control the trimpot to have only 360mA to 400mA for that, i will test it first before the final attachment of every components.

Re: im using LG 20x DVD burner diode

Here's the setup that's gonna be, inside the new host...

Dude, that's an amazing job, I don't think I could do something like that since my soldering skills suck.
How many watts is your pot? Some of those small pots are like 1/4 - 1/2 watts, I'd go with a .75 watt pot just to be safe since you're going to be driving the diode at high currents.
