Here's a thought: with YouTube's (relatively) new redesigned comments/rating system, comments that are rated "positively" eventually make it to the top of the millions of others in a "highest rated" list.

If we, the kind, heroic, safety-concerned peoples of LPF all band together and come up with a nice, brief, well-thought-out and to-the-point comment to post on Kipkay's (and potentially others') videos on flashlight modification and DIY BR/Red laser builds, one of us could post it and then we could all organize ourselves and immediately go click the "thumbs up" button to rate that post up the top, therefore keeping it up there for all of the 5,000,000+ viewers to constantly see, above all the other comments.

Thoughts?

This would save a lot of lasers and eyes.
I found a friend who know i was into lasers and killed his first blue ray because he did not use a drive and asked why it died...
But luckily for him i had my first ddl driver and a old phr i was not using so all is well that ends well, just wish he would edit that video and tell people to build the driver.

Glad to hear the idea is catching on! Once we've assembled a "team" of people, we can pretty much post a safety notice such as this, and then quickly get it to the top "highest rated comments" on any video we please (unless it gets deleted by the video uploader).

I feel this has a lot of potential.

Why would he delete a safety notice? It doesn't hurt his cause (to make money) in any way.

Good idea, but Kipkay can and does just delete the comments.

...Why would he? The problem with him isn't that he's against us or wants to harm others...

It's just that he simply couldn't care less about 5 million people potentially losing diodes and vision :yabbmad:

I doubt he'll even notice, let alone get of his ass and press the delete button

Count me as in. I've got an account.

Diodes are easier to replace, and cheaper, than eyeballs. And until we get cheaper DPSS eyeballs, we really need to get the safety message out there.

I have a warning in the description of all of my laser videos on YouTube. But if you'd like I could supply a list of the hundreds of other videos on YouTube that don't.

Maybe you can start with ROG's video: YouTube - New Flip top Laser Lighter Video This is the one where he points it at his skin and burns himself. Not a single warning on the video or on the web page that shows you how to build one.

How come you can be offline for months and then suddenly come online when there's a thread about you? Do you lurk the forum logged out or something? :shhh:

No, I do not lurk. I actually came on here and donated $$ to LPF and saw the post.

Well as i know many people who have done your laser tricks and killed there lasers and come to asking wtf?
A revision of some of the videos or just add something in the beginning saying you need a driver! The ddl driver takes all of 5 min or less to build, you don't even need a pot you can set it with the resistors and then your done.
I am glad to hear you are on the forums.
Also a link to buy safety glasses would not hurt.
I actually came here threw a comment on that exact video and read up and found out that if i had did what you said i would be out 30$, glad i read because 3$ of parts from the shack and that laser has over 100 hours on it.
You do have lots of good things but some of them are very dangerous, if a kid shines that laser at a cop they can be shot to death, it has happened.
Alot of people have some hate towards due to killing there lasers...
Heard of the rule safety first?
Whats more worth it fixing your videos or people losing there money or worse their eyes?

We do realise your not the only one, and it's nice that you've come on the forum to post.

It's just that you attract a lot more viewers than the other videos and you could be such a great influence on a large number of people, and there's still issues in your videos such as the BIC lighter one when the guy lights a cigarette practically in his face.

Maybe like a quick 4/5 second yellow slide in your next laser video could work wanders, just informing very briefly of the eye sight issues etc. With support of the forum you could gain a lot more attraction to your videos.
