Howto: USB Soundcard DAC (EZAudDAC) with Windows 7

If you're only seeing 2 channels in your audio preferences as shown above, then I would go back and double-check to make sure your audio playback default device is the DAC soundcard.. if, once you're sure that your audio playback default is right, you still have no option for 7.1ch then I'd reinstall the drivers. If you still have no output, it would almost have to be a bad card, but that's very unlikely. Usually either a sound card works or it's completely dead.

that just made it worse i uninstalled the driver and now i cant reinstall it

Okay, I've made a 7.1 channel max-wave file for correction-amp tuning. It's attached to this reply.

Try plugging the sound card into a different USB port.

thanks allot and i got windows to auto find a driver so false alarm

Possibly dumb question, but I can't remember seeing anything about the type of card you're using. Are you using the c-media card from the tutorial?

Also, just to say it, when you select the playback default in win7 you right-click the speaker icon in the system tray:

and then select the default card using the "set default" option in this window:

i cant get it in sound settings any more than 2channel

and yes the default i have set to is the adiolase dac

and yes a cmedia card

I know you're using the audiolase DAC, but obviously there's something missing here. The audiolase board by itself is not a complete DAC, it requires a sound card also, and your soundcard isn't going to be called audiolase, so I'm not sure you're working with a complete setup. Again, sorry if these things seem obvious or silly, I'm just going over every possible thing I can think of. What kind of sound card are you using along with the audiolase board?

Did you change your speaker configuration to surround sound? I forgot to inline one of those screenshots for that step. I fixed that.

Ok I know where we're going wrong. There's some info lacking in the OP. To get to the page to configure your speakers, you must right-click the USB audio device from the list in this screen and select the highlighted control:

EDIT: Bionic beat me by a nose!

Yeah, it was actually there from the beginning, but I must have forgotten to inline the image.

i got that actually but it doesnt change anything the audio card is still emitting only 2 channels

Try not setting it as the default card and then see if you can change the settings. I know that on my other card I can't change settings until it is not set as the default because of stuff like Windows sounds. Then make sure you have it set up for 7.1 with full range, and try again.

Oh yeah, did it also say it's a "USB Multi-Channel Audio Device"? If not, see if you can switch to that driver.
