How to get the aperture cap off?

I got one of those ebay ones and am having the same troubles, tried rubber bands with vice grips but stopped after I hear the horrible screeching sound. About to try electrical tape now!

Why post SOOOO BIG pictures. ??

My wood block method has never failed me. It's mentiontioned here occasionally and it works. Be careful but forceful.

Instead of electrical tape, use GORILLA DUCT TAPE, on the jaws of the pliers. It has a rubbery texture that REALLY provides a good grip. phoenix77/rob 8-)

Unfortunately I don't have a Vice, so I can't do that. Oh, and what's wrong with big pictures? :-?

Hmmm, I didn't think of that.. Gotta try it!
Thanks!

Edit:
Ok, I tried the duct tape method, and while turning on the cap the tape kept on sliding off.. and started to get a rip in it... Which is when the pliers slid off and made more scratches on the cap :'(
I'm tired of doing this and tired of the huge scatter made from the lens.. Is someone willing to do this for me?

Nah, no luck.
As I posted earlier
when I point it at the wall from 2 meters away there are speckles 1 meter away from the dot
It gets kind of annoying.. :(
I'm deciding on whether to just send it to a member here to get it off though

The block of wood + vice method is the only one I've managed to get to work for these pressure-fit caps. In fact, I've had to use two for some of the hard ones. You're actually lucky on that cap, because it has a little lip that can aid in holding it, despite its thin size.

The cap is pressure fit?
Are you 100% sure?
I don't think it would be.
