My man! :D

Hey anybody here playing Dark Souls, maybe?
Or Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance?
Also I KNOW there are some Mass Effect fans between us.

We should have a thread for all games general.

Never played any of those games, do you recommend them?
Minecraft is only game I play and need at the moment :p

Agreed.

I like me some mass effect. great story. personally I feel the best stories are to be found in the bioshock series

Expensive ones. The amounts below might be off a bit.

Computers - Probably close to $15,000 or more since 2000. That inludes laptops. Some of that money went towards more hard drives or replacements for stuff that broke. Right now I have 3 running desktops and 1 laptop.

Cameras, still and motion - I'd guess close to $10k in the same amount of time.

Guns - I've wanted one for quite some time. Talk about a bad time to get into firearms.

Video games - I'd say between $3k and $5k on maybe 75 to 100 games since 2000.

Lasers - Maybe $7.5k. One full color projector, multiple handhelds and 4 gas. Sig not up to date.

Coin collecting - I couldn't guess how much I've spent on my collection. I might go for gold or platinum one of these days. Right now I stick to silver.

Vehicles - I don't mind working on vehicles. Parts that are stuck due to rust tick me off though. I'd love to get something older to work on. I may install a turbo in the car once the warranty is gone and I have money to do it. I want to keep the exhaust quite which means no fart cans.

Home theater - I have the TV and a nice receiver. One of these days I'll drop about $5k on a nice speaker set. Maybe once I'm out of the military. 7000 pounds adds up fast and the moving companies love to break crap.

Wish I could be a "real" gamer like most of the gamer population. Most of my time I spend gaming offline because I have a crappy internet connection and I do not have the $ to pay for higher speeds. Not to mention my PC is kinda old. Nevertheless, I still game a lot.

I almost exclusively game offline and singleplayer. Exeptions are LAN matches.

I do occasionally fire up a CoD LAN match just for fun, but generally, playing through campaign usually goes with a sense of purpose, some final goal to be achieved, something to drive you. Online gaming is quite pointless to me. Kill to win match until bored. Who gives a crap? I'd much rather save the Galaxy from Reaper threat, stop the Abyss spread over the land of Lordran, stop an Infinite War, put an end to Seraphim thread, prevent the doom brought upon Tamriel by Alduin...

Gaming is not swearing into monitor for hours. Gaming is being immersed in the experience.

Anybody who plays CoD/Battlefield online for weeks and weeks non-stop without even having finished that game's singleplayer is not a gamer for me.

Sorry if anybody's insulted. I don't pretty up my opinion for anybody.

BTW, anybody up for Dark Souls thread?

I like how you explain things Eud.

So it seems that I'm no the only one who plays mostly offline/campaign.

Through the years I've played a lot of games but I mostly prefer shooter/shooter-adventure/stealth games.

I loved Call of Duty only up to MW. The rest are crap. I also like Far Cry 2 & 3, Mass Effect 1 up to 3, all Splinter Cell games and TESV

Thanks,

I don't like Stealth games much. I do love shooters, sci-fi, RPGs and occasional strategy game.

I agree with all your games, I'd like to add that Far Cry 2 and 3 were "meh" for me but Far Cry 1 was by far the best. Now, truth be told, they're so radically different it's basically a completely different game series, but I guess that's why I like FC1 so much.

I know you said you have old computer, but how do you think you can run Battlefield 3? That game has one of the best single-player campaigns of all war shooters of the theme.

THE single best single player shooter experience was Medal of Honor Warfighter. Same engine (Frostbite 2) so it's a bit heavy on hardware, but graphics are one of most realistic I've seen so far and singleplayer storytelling is cinematic quality.

Regarding Far Cry, for me its kinda the opposite. Far Cry 1 was "meh". FC2 had excellent graphics and was very immerversive but the repetitive missions are a real drawback. I have to say that FC2 was one of the most immersive games I have ever played. FC3 also gets a thumbs-up from me. Also very immersive especially with a few mods.

I don't think I can run BF3. Bad Company 2 stutters really bad on my machine.

But I was under the impression FC3 is about the same regarding hardware requirements. It ran tad worse on my machine than any Frostbite 2 game. Granted my CPU is showing it's age but still.

Well, if you ever get the chance, don't miss MoH Warfighter.

FC3 surprised me, too. I play on lowest setting and I achieve decent framerates but some older games are unplayable. I guess it has to do with the engine.

I will give MoH a try. BTW my machine is really ancient. Pentium D 820 @ 3Ghz, HD4670, 2GB DDR2 800Mhz. I have been using this PC for 6 years now.
