I'm a complete newbie here, but I'm looking for a high quality & kick butt green laser on the cheap. This looks too good to be true.
I understand that used electronics go for a fraction of new, but a $3600 laser selling for $900 seems off. The 350mW Hercules is $1589 direct, so the $900 price seems more in line for the less powerful version.
lol you missed the whole word "avg." But before that it says what appears to be
"Hercules-325 (>300mW avg. Output @ 532nm"
The > 300 is hard to tell tho that could be a 325 or 300 its hard to say but do you agree with the first part?
Ok....we added an additional photo to the craigslist listing. Details.....
the photo on the outside of the carry case shows a sticker that reads....
hercules-325 [>325mW avg. output @ 532nm] BUT.....the photo of the sticker that is on the actual laser itself reads....peak power <500mW wavelength 473-671nm. Class IIIb laser. "0322677-04". We also unsrewed the bottom of the laser where the batteries are held, and their is a
sticker that reads "7060919". We hope this helps some. This is a product that we are unfamiliar with and dont get to see very often. Excuse us if we dont have all of the exact details. We are just a pawn shop. As for the price....It is our job to aquire merchandise as inexpensively as possible, so we can in turn sell it for an affordable price. That is why its a very fair price. We appreciate everyones interest in the item!! Thank you!!
Pulled up the Serial Tag from Laser Glow a Few min after he posted this.
Was confirmed that it is a Hercules 325 Avg power 334 Peak of 429, Sold after April 3 of this year so it's somewhat of a new unit And puts it at 1389$ new. Good Luck with the Sale Hope this Information helps
As in my post above I pulled the SN and it's a 325..... The <500mw sticker is a generic sticker laser glow places on their laser it looks like as its from blue 475nm to 675nm and we all know green is 532 nm : ) So their lack of knowledge is acceptable here as I would have tried to see it for a <500 as every ebayer does
Yeah, that's perfectly reasonable. It just says '<500mW' because that insures that the laser is Class IIIb and not Class IV. Doesn't mean that's its output, just means it will always be less than that output. Perfectly reasonable to say it's a Hercules 500 if you don't understand why it's saying that.
In that case casinopawn I'll purchase this off you for the $899 USD price you said above. But first I'd like Jimmymcjimthejim to check out the unit, take some pictures, make sure it's in good condition and everything is working. I know you can't test the power, Jimmymcjimthejim, but you should be able to check out the laser to see the cosmetic condition, and at the very least see if it's outputting something you'd expect of a green laser in the 100-1000mW region. Also check to see if the divergence is reasonable, shine it at something far away and compare the dot to another laser you have.
So you two somehow arrange to meetup, so you can check out the unit Jimmymcjimthejim and post your findings here in this thread. That would be great, I'll make sure you get some rep for your valuable service
If that all checks out then I'll be happy to pay the money, the serial number has been verified from LaserGlow and unless you've bashed it against a rock (which is unlikely, since you're a seller and you want to keep your items in top condition) then it will output the right amount.
I'll get you to send it to another US member of these forums (probably jayrob, as I like his packaging skills) and he'll do some more tests and eventually ship it all the way to me.
So, a bit of an operation there, but for a Hercules it's worth it
Ok Murudai, I will check out the laser tomorrow. I am going to test for divergence, beam diameter, mode, current (mA), the actual condition of the laser, etc. Anything else?
This is exciting
Just have some fun! As long as you don't damage it, I don't care what you do Overall just check to make sure this thing is in good condition, ie; feels like a reasonably new unit and not like a beat up, really old unit made up to look new.
If you can take a few close up pictures of it and some pictures of what it all comes with, that would be great as well.
