People will argue no, but alcohol is way worst than pot. I'm from an alcoholic family, and the effects of booze endangers lives and families far more than smoking weed will ever do. I wish people would do their own research before believing what their elders tell them. Plus we pay over $40,000 a year to house each pot smoker in prison. I think that the space and money would be better spent on the coke, meth, and crack heads that are robbing, and killing people.

But the people have been speaking up. 14 states in the US have decriminalized the use of pot, and many more will be following suite.
entirely agreed
Me too

Would you say that Hitler or Mussolini was a crueler dictator? Does it really matter? They both slaughtered thousands of innocent people, and just because most people would argue that Mussolini "wasn't as bad" doesn't make his actions justified.

DEFINITELY!! Even both cops I've asked about this said they'd rather deal with someone who is high then someone who is drunk.. or even someone who's sober, sometimes.. Potheads are WAY less likely to cause trouble of any kind, especially abusing/beating their family or killing someone in an auto accident. Most of the time they just don't want to get off the couch, and certainly can't be bothered with physical exertion. Personally, I'd rather be in the company of an entire room full of serious potheads then have to deal with one anal-retentive drunk.

And just because the gov't says something is legal doesn't make it right, or even the best possibility.

@rocketparrotlet: I understand what you're saying here, but your analogy would be better suited to comparing alcohol to cocaine or heroin. All three of these have killed many people.

Marijuana has yet to kill anyone that I'm aware of.. it bears the same risks as cigarettes, so I guess it could give you lung cancer, but I really haven't heard of any lung cancer cases that are linked directly to pot. Even if someone could find evidence of deaths being caused by marijuana directly, the statistics wouldn't even come close to the number of deaths from alcohol, cocaine, heroin, or even prescription drugs (both abused and used according to the doctor's recommendations). Alcohol is a huge killer, weed is not.

I used to burn but not any more , i remember a long long time ago
one time I was ....... and then .................wait a minute..............
oh yea there was these ..........................never mind I forgot :P

Weed is not evil. I am stating my own opinion alone; I hate the damn stuff. However, I think it should probably be legalized, as it is billions of dollars worth of untaxed revenue. The cost of maintaining potheads in prison is another reason. However, the thought of that stuff on the street...ugh. I HATE it!

As much as I know almost every american slang and festivities (and more) I never heard of such thing, what is 4-20? The Family Guy episode that aired this last Sunday was named like that. Is it a day when pot was legalized somewhere?

No, it's the police code for pot, so for some reason people smoke pot on this day.. The day most likely to get caught.

The shooting you referred to was the Columbine shooting (Mentioned previously in this thread). Virginia Tech is currently the worse (In terms of deaths) school shooting in the US.
I typed "*facepalm*" because I was astounded at how naive your post was.

The only death I've heard of from pot was people's heart rate racing too much and they get a heart attack.

---
if it was legalized I would hate to have people just walking down the streets with it, the same way they can with a cigarette.

But it would eliminate the black market and convictions for simple things like that.

Do whaat??? Where the .. did you hear that? I'm gonna need to see a source on that one..

..and you're right Niko. I think that convictions for using marijuana constitutes a real waste of taxpayer $$ (here in the US) and a waste of people's time in general. And many more people have died in the process of cultivating and distributing marijuana than have died from using it. If there is no black market, then there is no associated violence and crime..

He's not going to be able to find a reference for that. It never happened. No one has ever died from marijuana, either from its direct effects or through things like heart attack, cancer, emphysema, etc. The only adverse effects of marijuana I can believe are antimotivational syndrome and that with extended use every day it will tend to paralyze the cilia in the lungs, leading to excess phlegm buildup which can cause minor lung infections like bronchitis over time. With moderate use, my research has found absolutely no adverse effects. As for "antimotivational syndrome" I'd like to think that people who are lazy will continue to be lazy regardless of what they put in their bodies. I'm a successful computer technician despite smoking mass amounts of marijuana each day. Ted Turner is a billionaire who founded CNN News while smoking pot, and continues to smoke a joint every day. There are hundreds of millions of people on earth who smoke marijuana, including at least 60% of the Canadian population and at least 40% of the American population, and there's no news reports saying "40-60% of the population is unemployed and sitting on their couch eating cheetos"... I tend to believe people with "antimotivational syndrome" are just lazy fatasses who would be sitting around doing nothing regardless of what they consume.

Source? I have first-hand experience in this and is actually the reason I quit. When I first started smoking, this didn't happen. After a while, though, getting high was no longer fun. Frankly it scared the shit out of me. It made my heart beat at an insane rate of speed and felt as if it was just going to explode in my chest. I'm fairly sure I could in fact die from it, but that's just me :P however if there are more like myself, this could be an issue :-/
