hehe...thanks for the offer
It's not too far to travel - I'm in Hendon. I'm pretty busy at the moment though..
I'll definately let you know when I've got some time though - would be amazing to see a 5 watt green in action...But then I might be bored of my 175mw when I get home!
Btw it's crazy that you can't see the beam in pic 4!
It's going to be a little tougher to organise, since i'm now away at university. I will be around every couple of weekends at best, but I will be staying at home again over Christmas, when I hope to next do it and be able to get some pictures of the beam in the dark.
It was pretty sunny that day and I'm not too surprised the beam wasn't picked up in the photo, though. The beam was fairly dim in the room - just sort of sparkling all the way along as dust passed through and with that much sunlight it wasn't ever going to be easy to capture. I'll sort that next time though!
Thats pretty cool! Does the beam terminate onto a building somewhere?
Given all the news about airplanes and lasers i'd thing shining a 5 watt into the sky in a city surrounded by airports may not be the best of plans...
I'm not sure... Although, the observatory is at the top of a hill and then the beam is being shone horizontally over the city rather than upwards so there is a low chance that anything will be caught in it... except maybe the occasional bird.
