When I first saw the pictures of a multiline argon laser beam split with a diffraction grating I wanted to own one.
Today I fired up my jdsu 2214-ml40 that I bought from dave. The package is similar to
isaac's argon, my head is cylindrical tho and requires a fan and tube to remove the heat. Dave was kind enough to throw in the very quiet 220V fan for the shipping. More pics and info soon. The remote was on sale at meredith. Run at full blast - 10.6A my laserbee measures 168mW. I haven't popped any balloons yet........

Nice multi-line. I love gas lasers and 488 is a hard color to beat.

You need to post a couple pics of the laser itself.

And what is the output?

Looks like a Uniphase 2202-30 BLT judging by the size.

Wasn't that the 105mW Ar Dave was selling?

Cylindrical Uniphase lasers all look alike
You have to read the tag or see the beam to know what it is

Peace,
dave

True, I forgot about the 2214's. Could be a 2214-MLA.

Anyway, sleep now.

Yeah it is a 2214- ml40. I really like it.. next ion laser will be a white light, a kr would be cool too.

An Ar-Kr Ion laser is probably my ultimate laser but they're not cheap and usually don't take standard 120v power.

Got to see a Lexel 95 at SELEM do the whitelight projection for the graphic shows. Also got to press the buttons on it for line selection. It was awesome, watched the alignment and everything. Felt like a VIP pass.

I was also put on leak duty :p We had to make sure the water cooling wasn't going to leak and spray anywhere, so I made sure it was good to go.

So watched the alignment, and did line selection, leak duty, picture taking, and alignment help. I like to say I put some time into people seeing graphic shows in the auditorium :p Helps me sleep at night.

It was a very cool laser, for sure.

This is the spot at idle power. The camera shows a ring, but there is no sign of it naked eye or thru goggles.

Ok,

i just wonderd because the dots look split in the second pic with just the multiple wavelengths showing . but your single beam looks great so it might just be the pic.

I was considering that ArKr until I saw it used 3-phase 208v power. Shipping will probably be almost as much as the laser itself.
