Getting the flashlight bug....need advice!

The TK75 throws much, much further vs the TN30...

Actually not all that much of a difference between it, and the stock TN31 in throw.

The next best combo light that I have my eyes on, is the RC40. The price, custom battery pack, and just that it's freaking ugly, really doesn't entice me about it.

I expect it will be released for around $350 initially. Even if you consider that the pack is worth $50, that's still nearly double of what you can get the tk for, which will provide ~85% of the same performance.

Most of the use use my lights get is as substitutes for my reading night light. I have plenty I should probably get rid off :o

Edit: Never mind on the RC40... going to use xmlu2... I feel let down :(

MY FLASHLIGHT IS COMING IN TODAY! WHY AM I SO EXCITED? ITS NOT LIKE IT IS A LASER.....but I am definitely still super excited! Damn USPS didn't update information EVER so it looked like it had been sitting in Houston for 36 hours straight after being processed. Now today it gives me an update that it has been processed through USPS facility in Austin, TX. SMH @ you, USPS. SMH.

I just placed the order for the ThruNite Neutron 2C. Think I'll use this more often than the TN 30 & 31.

The <10lm mode is great on these ThruNites. Still bright enough for reading.

It will be my first Thrunite flashlight - one that I actually own. The fact that it's XP-G2, and fully regulated on 14500 batteries appealed to me.

So far the absolute lowest mode I have seen is with Amytek. You can literally look into the lit up led with a magnifying glass. It's kind of interesting, but at that level only useful in absolute pitch darkness. Of course run time is insane.
 
Got my Flashlight in today(almost typed laser lol....too used to lasers). i took a bunch of pictures and spent a good long while outside with it tonight walking around. So bright! I think I am going to want a hardcore thrower after this one, cuz this is decently floody(mind you, it goes a good long ways). I'll be putting together a review soon :beer:
 
To get more throw you need either a smaller emitter, or a larger reflector.

You should be able to see everything up to 50 meters VERY well though :D
 
While I don't doubt it's a phenomenal light, for the most part it just looks like a very well built torch with a properly sized aspheric lens, and a fully driven XPG2.
 
Yes, that is what the outside looks like.

It is quite a bit more than that.



Also, I want one ofthose lights like the kids got in Jurassic Park. That light is a fuggin beast!

Also, the light I mentioned was a $15 light, the LED is currently the best high cri low cct LED. Csshih sells them at Illumination supply. Not only are they the best, but he has the highest available output bin for the high cri low cct LED, with the lowest Vf bin too! So, best chips of the batch get paired with a great phosphor blend to provide amazing color rendering without having to resort to that uber warm, red, or yellowish light.

I received the C20 yesterday.

Comparing it to the original Crelant, there seems to be absolutely no difference in finish, quality, or function. The clicky on the C20 needs just a tad more force - in line with other flashlights.

If there were no company markings on them, you would not be able to tell them apart at all.

In output the Crelant 7G3CS appears to win out slightly.

Major difference is in tint. The Crelant 7G3CS is a much warmer/yellow, more pleasant to the eyes, and consistent with other U3 lights I have seen.

I have no way to confirm this, but based on seeing many lights, to me the output of the C20 is consistent with a U2, not U3.

Altogether, my vote between the two goes to the C20, based purely on price. The 7G3CS I picked up for ~$45. the C20 for under $30... that's a big difference.

For $30 this light is really a steal.

If anyone is interested I'll take some side by side pictures, but trust me when I say they are identical.
 
Good to know! Those crelants look nice, but even they are a bit higher than my budget allows. (and here I speak as if I even have a flashlight/laser budget anymore)

I was wondering what you thought of how knurling feels, if it feels the same on both?
