GB: $2.46 Ben Boost Drivers

I use the arduino shield an I love it!

I had a PID, but couldn't figure how to work the darn thing!

I just bought some random solder paste from digikey when I put in an order. It works ok, but I wish it had a smaller needle. Unfortunately we haven't had any stencils made yet.

A lot of those PID controllers for the espresso machines cost more because they have the autotune function built in. That's great for people who just want to have it work out of the box, though I'd rather just tune it myself or write a program to do it.

Hmm.. a stencil maker might be a good use of a laser.

I'm already in for an order of 25 if this hits the 1000. Although chances of that look bleak. If there's a way to get some parts in lesser than 100 orders, like 100 or 500, but for a cost of $3-4 per driver, that might work better.

Even if you don't go the reflow route, and get someone to do the solder job for you it's a great deal. Maybe people don't have a need for 25 drivers. I don't see an immediate need, but 25 drivers will last a while, and you can't beat the price!

Edit the first post, and put 10 minimum in the title perhaps, so people know it's changed. Otherwise a lot of people might just ignore it thinking it's a 25 minimum still.

Hey Machinist Joe, while I'm not an advocate for higher prices, why don't you just change the price to $70 for 25 boards + parts shipped in the US instead of that oddball $65.64 amount? The reason is that inevitably there is going to be some other charge that is going to come up and you'll have to cover it or issue another plea for funds. It'll help cover packaging and your time as well. Maybe even just bump it to $75.

Maybe I will. Chances of this group buy actually happening look bleak though... :/

I'd be in for 10 for sure, but I have doubts you will get enough interest for 1000 here unless a retailer picks it up.

We kind of need to get Ben and RHD (if they can and will - I know RHD recently moved so he may be discombobulated right now) to look at the data and see if they have any ideas. I'm not certain that Benboosts are bad for single mode laser diodes, but there could be a problem with the more finicky diodes.

They seem to work great for 445 x140 (where x = A,H or M) so they still have value as a driver. Just follow the thread that TJ referenced to see if there is a problem with the more sensitive diodes.

Also, it looks like adding an inexpensive capacitor to the output seems to help and it isn't hard to add if you are doing a 12x build with one of these.

:)

If you can fit this in your build it would help a bunch
10 x 100uF 25V 105C Radial Electrolytic Capacitor 6x11mm - Free Shipping | eBay

Input and output would likely solve the problem
