GB#1st of PL-E Pro Lasers and PL-E 2.0/3.0 Clearance - May 2013

Re: GB#1st of PL-E Pro Lasers and PL-E 2.0/3.0 Clearance - May 2013

I didn't know I could use 2-3.7v cells in it until now. I put in the reducer and 2-18350's and my PL-E PRO 532/500 LPM'd @ 720mw

That was peak but stayed around 680 and 700

Yes, it takes 4.2 . 18350 is something new to me.

In my experience 18350 batts have given me more output on any of my lasers then the 16340 batts

Just a short note to say: THANKS to Gray and his company -- JETLASERS -- For truly a fine Laser.

Anyone that might be on the fence on placing an order for one -- Based on the Laser I received -- You will not be disappointed. Truly a Work of Art !!

Thanks Gray -- It's been a pleasure doing Business with you and your Company -- JETLASERS !!

I also ordered and received a pair of King Kong 26650 batteries -- Ordered from HAK and his company -- GLP. THANKS HAK !!

This will solve my crow and blackbird issues on my 2 story steel shop roof. No more trying to use rocks to disperse -- I should have thought of a Laser years ago !!

what is the highest mW rated 532nm PL-E pro rated at? what about its divergence (mrad) rating? I'd consider one if it is <1.5mrad and there is at least a 700mW version, preferably more...

sorry if this was answered already, I'd look at the jetlasers site, but it's being worked on or something

They had a Web issue a few days ago -- Try this Web Address:
jetlasers.org

Just an update -- I had ordered the 500mW Laser and Gray was kind enough to LPM it for me and the results: Peaked at 565 and averaged 499.

Both of my orders included a single cell wall charger. One works fine and charges my 26650 batteries to 4.12 volts when I pull out with the green light on.

The other wall charger - Was plugged into a power strip at my feet and after perhaps 10 minutes -- There was a rather loud POP and a faint burnt smell. Unplugged and pulled the battery out and it registered 4.12v and the red light was still on the charger. That charger is on it's way to it's new permanent home !!

Long story short -- Ordered a Nitecore i4 from a current GB -- Should solve the problem.

As I'm not familiar with protected batteries -- I may not have a good spare. No worries -- As the Laser only takes one battery !!

Re: GB#1st of PL-E Pro Lasers and PL-E 2.0/3.0 Clearance - May 2013

thanks. I looked and while 700mW are available, they still have that 2mrad rating like the old PL-E 3.0s, so I will pass. good luck everybody. I'm going to spring for a lasever module hot kit from JayRob, it's going to cost me quite a bit more than one of these, but I really want divergence better than 1.5mrad. It's the reason I sold my PL-E 3.0.

Thanks Dave - glad it finally arrived. You are very welcome.
Better not use two 26650 Batteries. :)

thank goodness it didnot burn the battery or cause more danger!

BTW, the remote mousetail switch can take the place of the safety pin on the tailcap. The semi-transparent sleeve is the case reducer for converting 16340/18650 to the 26650 host - there is also a small piece of diffraction grating inside - might be missing if it is not received.;)

Sorry that v3.0 didnot have a expected divergence! Hope your next laser does the job. :).

I did not mean to offer insult. It was my own fault Gray. these PL-E pros look really really really cool. You were a pleasure to do business with. Nothing against you or Jetlasers, I just want superb divergence. I will be spending over $800 to get this. I am not suggesting these PL-E pros are poor in any way, just not exactly what I want. If it did have better divergence, you'd have my money in an instant. cheers

Thanks !! Understood.
Usually we collimated all 532nm parts in batches in the labs before assemble, so we werenot very particular about the exact divergence. <2.0mrad by and large. We will improve the precision anyway.

I just asked the tech guys - better use a single 18650/26650 instead of two 16340s/18350 batts. It is more safe.

But if you wanna run it with ac adapter, 8V is okay. Two batts fully charged is bit high in voltage.;)

Hi all you beam believers... I just wanted to follow suit and do what's right. To all of you who have not had a chance to work with Gray at Jet Lasers, or Hakzaw1, understand that they are some of the most intelligent, well-spoken, friendly, and helpful people i have encountered in this forum. Gray works very hard to not only provide accurate help, but to also go-the-extra-mile for any request. He is thoughtful and fair, and i would recommend him to anyone for any laser-related needs. He is also just a good guy to shoot-the-breeze with! The same can be said for Hakzaw--he always answers with more than you asked for, and he is more than happy to help however he can. Together, these guys are offering top quality at basement prices, something that is exceedingly rare these days, and they do it because of their love for the art of photon physics and their fellow enthusiasts. Big ups guys, and thank you sincerely for all your help!
I have bought 2 lasers from this team, for the price of one shadily-built knock-off, and i haven't a single regret! Thanks again fellas!
