FS: White Fusion Laser Mixing Kit

Here's one we prepared earlier:

The "PIC-socket" is the socket you find the the full colour driver. The on-board chip (RGB-IC) will get it's power from the batteries and the DAC/correction-amp from an extremal power supply.
 





That doesn't seem too difficult. I'll try ordering a kit in the next month, hopefully sooner to try it on.
 
Got mine today! Great build quality.

First things first, checked the power on my scanner to see if it was alright. Hooked her up and turned her on. Drivers instantly short out and fuse blows on the whole house.

No doubt due to my electronics incompetence somehow... So what can I do with this kit then? I don't really have the electronics experience to fix this or do anything, so I don't know what to do with it.
 
If the fuse blew it's probably a problem with the power supply, hopefully *before* it gets to the drivers... If that's the case, everything may still work.

I'd test each driver by itself with a test load, make sure everything still works, then find a new power supply, plug it all in, and pray.

Sorry to hear this. many hours when into that build. I would hate to find out it's fried.


When you checked the power on your scanner what was the output? Those FlexMod drivers are only rated for up to 12V and no more (I sent that info in our PMs).

A blown fuse does seem to indicate a short before the driver. Check where the power lines are connected. Both your connection to the power supply and to the 1st driver. If they got bent during shipping and are now making contact that could do it. Hopefully it is something like that.

So here is the latest addition to the White Fusion collection.

I set up the remote with these functions:

The receiver required an interface board to hook up with the firemylasers White Fusion extension driver.

I also had to remove the 5V regulator from the driver and added a higher current regulator to power the receiver, Interface and the TTL part of the driver on demand.

I can build these remotes with the interface for $55 + shipping if anyone would like one.

Here is how they fit in the clear enclosures we like to use.

The taller components on the receiver fit fine under the sled part of the kit. I do put some electrical tape over the interface board to be safe but the receiver is thin enough that the heat sinks of the kit don't make any contact.

The remote makes a big difference by letting me move around and enjoy the show rather than having to be right next to it the whole time.

Some other small additions:

* 5.5mm power jack for a 7-12V >1A PSU.
* UV LED on the back to indicate the receiver received your button press.
* AR Window to keep it all sealed up.
 
I added a power jack to mine as well, it is almost a must. Even Lipo batteries can't handle how much you want to show this thing off to people.
Looks great, where did you get that AWESOME heatsink design?
I may have to have you build me one of those remotes, but it wont be for a while. I'm in the middle of trying to build the full sized scanner (lots of learning involved in that).
 
Wow that's awesome! Is it still possible to use the two option and progra buttons on the FML Driver or do they have to be removed to use the wireless remote?
 
I didn't put them on because you need the remote for on/off anyway. My earlier build has the remote added to it too now and it still works with the buttons as well. I don't have the on/off set up on that one yet but when I do I will be adding 2 more buttons for that as well.


Personally I like the sleek look of it without the buttons...Just don't lose the remote :D

The receivers can learn new remotes. I'm sure some car alarm transmitters can be learned as well.
