FS: Sonar Laser Cases!

Murudai said:
The cases I have are around 130. They are upgrading them to 155 to put in the extra battery.

You sure 155 is the new longer one? I'm using 1 X 18650. So for me thats not one extra battery. Its room for a DPSS module.

Ask Wicked, not me.

All I know is I'm selling 135mm long cases, and they are increasing the case length to 155mm at some point.

Progress update!

All the cases have been sent up to Dark_Horse and they have successfully arrived to him :) He's out there designing a heatsink for them already :)

He's thinking of not just a heatsink but a complete module to house not only the diode but also to house the driver and switch assemblies. Essentially a complete module to slip in to the front of the case, and you're all set! The price will still be the same too, which is pretty impressive I think.

So it's looking really great. A complete module is perfect since it allows Sonar cases to be built DIY with as little effort as a Kenom barrel or MXDL. I'm very excited to see Sonars enter the DIY world :)

Wow, that is awesome murudai. Are these the beige/white ones?

I would be down for taking one of your hands, once they are completed, if there are any still left.

thanks

I put dibs on one

lol
I got first dibbs! ;)
Much too tired to say much tonight, I must go back to the "real-world" tomorrow. After much trial and proto-types , I believe I have designed the complete solution for these cases.
For the switch I am using one I harvetsed from a DVD-player, but I bought some at Radio Shack , (Item#275-0004), today that were the same size, except much shorter and the specs say they are only rated for 50mA-12vdc, so at 5.5v that would be like 100mA right? I guess that would be ok, I would still rather find a better switch supplier.
For the anode-contact I have press-fit a section of Delrin, (acetal-plastic), and press-fit a solid-copper contact into the center. The wire from this contact will run to one side of the switch, the wire from the the other contact will run to the driver "+batt-side", the case would be grounded in this case. The copper contact may also be removed and I have counter-bored for a spring, if someone wanted to go with case-positive set-up.
I will probably be making a "run" next weekend of the ones for Murudai's barrels, and I will honor the original price, (these are a challenge and I like to live up to my word), unless I provide a switch, in which case is it cost that much more. "Future Sonar-Heat-Sink-modules- thingies" will likley cost more do to the time involved in making these.
BTW, these are set-up to take 2xcr123a's and are long enough for the "protected-rechargables"

Well that's just awesome. Those little modules are MUCH better than I hoped :)

Since you can see what you're getting, we can now take orders :) The price is $75 USD including shipping for a barrel and heatsink module. There is a total of 8 of these sets up for sale.

Simply post here with your names, and I'll put you down. Once the modules are completed for all 8 cases, I can start taking payments and posting :) For now though, just getting who wants one :)

Interest List:

1 - brtaman
1 - Jimmymcjimthejim
1 - el-taco
1 - rkcstr
1 - GooeyGus
1 - ArRaY
1 - Kenom

(Note: International shipping beyond the United States will be a little extra).

Thanx ;D
I still need to figure out exactly how the wires for switch will get routed and soldered-up, and which switch will be used.

Put me down Murudai.

Question: Does it come with a switch etc?

Could you do a clear, collaborated post on what will be included in this?

You get the case and the heatsink module. The two above items in the second picture. Switches will be a little extra if you want one, Dark_Horse will work that out.

So the heatsink module is what the diode sits in? So there is no need for an Aixiz module etc?

No, you need an aixiz module to hold the diode and the lens.

We just call the whole heatsink thing a 'module' because it does much more than take away heat :)
