FS: Sonar Laser Cases!

I would be interested in one when it worked out... as I expressed before, I would just like some details on the heatsink once Dark_Horse gets it fabbed so that I can know what sort of driver/switch interface I'll need.

If I need to make anything custom, I could possibly make enough for everyone else buying these as well, if they wanted :)

Also, Murudai, do know if the case is designed for case ground or case positive? I'm guessing the batteries would work either way, but I just want to make sure.

If you could make a custom switch/driver interface that would be really awesome :) But I think for now we'll still sell the sonar/heatsink bundles on their own, and if people do want a nice switch/driver solution they can purchase yours, if you decide to sell it :)

This is great, for so long the Sonar case has remained an awesome looking design, but no one has really used it for DIY. Now that heatsinks and possibly switch/drivers are being made for it, it has finally entered the realm of the DIY world :D

I'm not sure about case ground or case positive. Do you mean how the end cap is designed to take the batteries? It looks like the case is meant for the negative end of the batteries, but really it could be either way.

Midknightm they told me they didn't have any more? Oh well, I guess 'out of stock' and 'don't have any more' are both the same thing, and different really.

Oh well, I'm still selling cheaper than Wicked though :) That's $72 from wicked shipped, it's $75 shipped here + heatsink that you need to make it work :)

Yeah, yours is still the better deal. I just want everyone to know there will still be more to go around. Being that we'll now have heat sinks. So if there is a high demand for more... It may be a good idea to do a GB. With the possibility that that chrome may also be available.

Think. If I buy one from wicked lasers. Its $73. So if ten more people want one. Thats $730.

If we do a GB, using a 10% discount code. I could get'em for $510. Thats $51 each(Shipped) Add a custom Sonar heatsink, and your at $71 Shipped w/heatsink.

The heatsink will be around $20, but that doesn't include shipping. And when you ship from Wicked, you can only do it to one person. Then they have to reship them out to everyone. That would add shipping costs.

With the 10% code, you could get $45 Sonar, then that's $65 with the heatsink. Then shipping for the Sonar case from Wicked to GB person, then from GB person to buyer, and THEN the heatsink shipping, you end up at around $10 at the minimum for all that shipping, so total of $75. That's where my price comes from :)

I think you could have all X amount of cases shipped at different addresses, if you provide WL with all shipping addresses in an email. :-/ I know you could do that during the Christmas sale. I bought lots of those new 5mW Evolution & CORE gift packs during that sale. Then put them on ebay. I still have $120 wicked bucks left...humm, I'll probably get me some Sonar cases with that.

Anyhow. Its still the same deal ($70-$75) But with the possibility of Chrome. ;)

Well, wait for me to sell these ones before you go around organizing any GB's :)

I'd like to get one no matter what... hopefully by then I'll have some extra cash to pay for it :)

I'll likely make up a driver with a switch and positive input spring that will interface with the button on the case and the batteries to make it nice and clean fitting. I'm also working on a more efficient design that will work better off of 2 3.6V batteries, similar to the Fusiondrive minus the controversy ;D

The main reason I need info about the heatsink is so that I can know what dimensions to make the driver, how long/wide/etc., then also what sort of "reinforcement" I'll need for the board to handle the button pressing as the board will likely bend when the button is pushed otherwise, which would give it a squishy feel and likely break the pins off the diode eventually.

Is there anyway to fab a "shelf" or slot into the heatsink if it extends under the button to hold the driver board? I know you're probably trying to make these universal, so I understand if that's not doable... I may have to look into some fabbed plastic reinforcers.

Whatever you do for a switch/driver solution rkcstr, it would be great if you could sell them commercially, because then we'll have all the parts we need to DIY a Sonar case :)

Plenty left! I'm not taking orders yet since they are weeks away for being ready, I'm just taking interest :)

I´d be interested too, because they just look fuc**** awsome.... ;)
However... I prefer the white one^^

These cases can't fit 3x CR123a's in them. These are the 2x CR123a versions. Wicked are increasing the length of the Sonar case by a few cm to fit the extra battery if I recall correctly.

When is this going to happen?

I know I saw a guy on ebay that was selling a Sonar II that had the button way up high. (beside the logo)
I was wondering if thats their way of fitting 3 batteries. Or are they upgrading the current 20mm X 155mm to like 180mm?

The cases I have are around 130. They are upgrading them to 155 to put in the extra battery.
