FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A (assembled or DIY kit)*** IN STOCK!

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like them. The extra set I taped to the bag was just in case you wanted to solder them on the driver holes or you could solder some wires with clamp leads like what bhwollen did on his test load I sent him.

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

Not a bad idea at all. I didn't even think about it maybe fitting the driver slots.
Thanks again!

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

I almost missed the extra pins myself. I was wondering about possible uses too. :)

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

Took me a while to post - but this has got to be the coolest test load I own :)

Love it - it's fantastic. As I look forward to a 4000 lumen camping tent-light build, with 12V high current LED emitter plates and a linear driver, I've actually got a test load that can simulate it in addition to working for regular laser diodes.

Very nice piece of work Jufran :)

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

:thanks: I'm really glad you guys are happy with my test load!

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

What made me want this is the fact it can be used with LED's aswell :D

I'l get back to you soon :)

:bumpit:

4 test loads left!

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

OK, so I'm still a noob and I've got a question:

I'm using a power supply to provide power (pretty good one), and testing various drivers. At 3.7 V I am getting the following outputs across the test load with one of those drivers:

pin 3: 525mA
pin 4: 300mA
pin 6: 70mA

With a different driver I am getting these outputs:

pin 3: 550mA
pin4: 300mA
pin6: 160mA

Does that look about right? Is there actually that much difference in resistence between diodes?

Or am I screwing up somewhere somehow?

I'm guessing you mean mV not nm, right? :p

What's the current output on the power supply?

It look's about right. The more diodes used, the higher the voltage drop, the lower current output will be.

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

Actually I meant mA, which I have now corrected. I forgot that 405's take 7.2 volts and when I bumped up the voltage to 7.2 with pin 6 jumpered, the outlook started looking more like what I thought it should.

In constnat voltage mode, the current output on the power supply varies with the test load resistance, but there looks to be about a 50% drop. I.E. with pin 3 jumpered and the power supply putting out 1.05A, I'm measured right at 500mA across the test load, and that's pretty consistant across different drivers.

In constant current mode with current set at 1 Amp, the coltage is 3.2V and current across the test load is 468mA.

But, I do want to buy another of these from you, because I broke one of the test leads I soldered on, and have a crappy connection now.

Got any available?

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

Just curious but what drivers are you using? I'm guessing a linear driver since input voltage you used was 7.2V.

Linear drivers tend to fall out of regulation if not given enough voltage depending on the forward voltage of the diode.

Were you looking to buy a kit or just the pin that broke? Send me a picture.

Re: FS: ***Selectable test load up to 3A***

They are just some cheapo drivers I got from Deal Extreme and checking to see if any may be suitable for driving laser diodes.

I'd rather buy an assembled one, if you have any. Its not a pin that broke, it its the positive input slot: When I removed the broken wire to solder in a new one, there wasn't any of the contact left on the board to solder a new lead to.

I could probably just solder a lead to the new 10 resistor, but they are inexpensive enough that I'll just buy another from you. If you have any right now.
