FS: Rubicon 10W & 5W Laser Power Meters

Trevor and I are proud to offer our new LPM, the Rubicon, up for sale here!

Here's our announcement thread with complete details:

Here's our announcement thread with details on the Rubicon-X 10W LPM:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f70/introducing-10w-rubicon-x-lpm-85734.html#post1242322

And a demo video of it in action:

For fast reference, here are the key features:

The Rubicon is based on the Ophir 20C sensor, and has a maximum input power of 5W. It uses 16-bit A/D conversion, allowing a resolution of 0.1mW. Because they are based on this sensor, the response time is a blazing 0.8s to 95% power.

The Rubicon covers the basics that every LPM should have - a reading display, peak power detection, and datalogging. It also has a number of other features that are rather uncommon in a hobbyist LPM.

  • Onboard average power display
  • Laser stability measurement
  • Onscreen graphing
    • Graphing in streaming (scrolling, unlimited) or session (will stop after a certain number of readings) mode
    • Optional display of an analog needle instead of a graph
  • Multiple datastream protocols
    • Simple - For use with generic logging programs, like StampPlot Pro
    • OpenLPM - For use with Peregrine. In the Rubicon, the OpenLPM protocol is able to pass instructions from the LPM to Peregrine.
    • LaserBee - In case someone replaces their LaserBee with a Rubicon, we thought it would be nice to be able to use the software that they already are licensed.
  • Multiple baud rate options for compatibility with various datalogging software packages
  • Rich integration with OpenLPM-compatible datalogging software

Congratulations ARG and Trev! This is an absolutely fantastic unit! The graphical screen is incredible!

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters

Mine arrives in 4-10 days.......anxiously counting the days down until I have the first Delta- Rubicon sold (other than the ones Trevor and ARG have). Thanks again for the quick shipping and the 4-5 month wait and keeping my mouth shut was well worth it.

Trevor and ARG deserve about +10 but system wont allow me right now :na:

Lol, i knew you knew too.. Funny as. To bad shipping to Australia takes weeks instead of days..

Ah, not sure what method shipping ARG uses since he is in Canada. Technically if i were to ship something to Canada it would be considered "international" and charged at the international rate so interesting to see that Canada doesn't consider the USA international. USPS just trying to make money yet again I guess. Good thing about ARG's shipping is EVERYTHING is covered afaik; theft, damage, lost package, etc. Might want to double check the exact details but it is a very nice feature to his shipping

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters

Shipping to Aus is actually around a week :)
I use Canada Post to ship everything out, the service I use for the full package is very fast because I have to ship it tracked, insured & with signature confirmation.

UPDATE: trying to be on-topic: i run an previous version of the OS that I got from Trevor, on my Kemometer Pro. it is excellent. you can't go wrong with this meter especially with an ophir sensor. accurate and fast.

The idea having the actual operation and browsing through the menu implemented directly in the laser power meter is compelling. Also portability factor of the unit (incl. the Ophir head) and option for 9V battery and/or AC/DC power supply is very welcome.

Perhaps a long awaited refresh in the LPM industry field?

The LPM name Rubicon matches nicely with the Ophir cube:)

Alea iacta est

Well come on guys get your hand's in your pockets and support the community ! :D

I'f I didn't have a Kenometer Pro (running Trevor's superb LumenOS) , I'd be all over these.

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters

Just wanted to say - thanks everyone for all the kind words and support! It's very much appreciated.

+1's when the system will let me. :D

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters

Curious to know how the sale is going; what you were expecting, slower than expected since you caught everyone by surprise, etc.... Will be interesting to see if there is an influx of LPMs in the B/S/T section or if owners will keep them as back-ups. I know Tony is selling his and IMO there is no need for a back-up since this meter is very compact and has the graphing screen right on it. Perfect design :D

Re: FS: Rubicon 5W Laser Power Meters

If anything I predict a steady trickle as opposed to a flood of orders.

It's not a small investment, and a lot of people likely to buy, are already LPM owners.

This would be an ideal solution for anyone upgrading from a TEC lpm though.
