FS: Pocket Mini Build Kit! - Easy Assembly!

udankis, I sent your Pocket Mini 'Hot' option kit with copper heatsink today. (Tuesday)

Set at 190mA's per your request...

Thanks!

Hey I received the laser kit and got it assembled. I absolutely love it thanks. It was worth the wait!

:thanks:

hey, i was wondering how well the 445 works in this host. If could anybody tell me what they are running their 445 at and how long this thing takes to warm up at that power it would be really helpful. I assume that near 1watt isnt a good idea in this host.

I was wondering that my self. I think a big limitation is the out put of the battery. I would say drive it at like 300mA-400mA and get the copper heatsink as long as you are using a quality battery.

I would say probably 650mA's max... (IMO)

Only because of the size of the battery... You want to have at least 30 or 45 minutes between charges...

At that current, you will still have a class 4 laser in a tiny host!

Hi Jay,

Not long ago I ordered your Pocket Mini kit with the copper upgrade.

I built it with a Dr. Lava microboost set to 1050mA.

I am using the UltraFire 16430 880mAh protected cell.

My laser pulses after a few minutes of run time.

Do you think this is because the driver is getting too hot or do you think its the 16430 protection circuit because the load is too great for the cell and it drops out when the cell voltage sags under load?

Twisting the case open and closed to tighten the threads up seems to clear up the condition for a short time but it always starts pulsing again shortly thereafter.

In any case I am considering order the 18650 host to run 445nm at higher powers and cutting back the current on the pocket mini.

Dan

My first guess would be the battery not being able to handle the current...

I always recommend maybe about 650mA's max with a 445 build in a Pocket Mini because I've had 18650's not be able to handle a setting of even 700mA's...

You might try a higher quality battery. Like an AW...

vect0rx, I sent your Pocket Mini 'Hot' option kits and lenses today. (Tuesday)

Thanks for being so patient!

I try to give as accurate as possible estimates. But it's hard to estimate that far in advance.

I honestly thought 3 or 4 weeks was about right, but I have not been getting all the orders done as fast as I had anticipated.

I can see now, that I am much closer to your order, and can give a much more accurate estimate. But it's still 8 to 10 days out. I figure around 10/28 or so...

I completely understand if you want to cancel. And if you do, just let me know and I will refund right away.

Really sorry for the long delay...

I feel bad since I know your order is a relatively small order, and I could get it done easily. But I would have to put you in front of others. And if I start doing that, then others will get backed up.

Really sorry for the long delay...

^^ thats taken from my pm's
Ahh i was kinda hoping for a little less "generic" responce.

Ok could you cancel the order please? PP number #75X10811A0734180Y

Many thanks

Well yeah... I have that general message so that I can copy and paste. And then just change the dates after I look at your order information.

So it's not a generic response. It just saves me a little typing time. But I did look up your order information.

And the only difference is that it was a little longer than my last estimate.

It's not easy to estimate that far out in advance.

I'm sending your refund now...

I hope to eventually get caught up. So that I can ship in a timely manner like I used to be able to do.

Sorry to disappoint...

j.olson, I'm sending your Pocket Mini 'Hot' option kit with other item's today. (Friday)

Hope you like it!

I just want to say that the hot option was incredibly easy to put together -- my soldering skills are pretty rudimentary (just for reference, I have soldered a handful of things in the past, but still had to go out and buy myself a cheap soldering iron), but after getting the kit and being overjoyed for a while at looking at the individual parts, etc. the whole thing went together in a snap. None of the "finer points" of the build that I had seen people discuss turned out to be any kind of an issue at all -- everything makes itself clear with a bit of common sense -- the instructions themselves are overkill.

Also, the host pretty much rocks. It is an awesomely tight and clean little laser package.
