FS: Pocket Mini Build Kit! - Easy Assembly!

No prob...

D@Adlib, I sent your Pocket Mini kit with 'Hot' option today. (Wednesday)

I set the driver to 105mA's per our discussion. (blu-ray test load)

Hope your build goes well! :)

AAAUGH! Now you offer copper heatsinks, right after I got my last no-duty-cycle Pocket Mini LCC red up and running at 207mW (300mA current) with the aluminum heatsink.

Ran it for 15 minutes straight with no degradation - just a little temporary loss to 202mW as the diode heated up. Tested at full 207mW after an hour's cooldown (just to make sure it was nice and cool).

Do you think a copper heatsink would make any difference for a no-duty-cycle application? Increased current?

Yeah.... and sorry, but as you can imagine, there is no way I can just trade people for the $8 dollar difference. That would kill me! The copper is expensive. Plus it is harder to work with.

Quite honestly though, the aluminum heatsink in this build is really just fine.

The copper is better, but not completely necessary. With an 8X build, it would be desirable for sure.

About duty cycle. I know that Igor has been doing some testing on duty vs no duty, and I don't know enough to just recommend 'no duty cycle'.

I have a habit of using a duty cycle. But I'm sure that it mostly depends on the current setting. For instance, I read more than one experiment with PHR's, that at 90mA's or less, they can run for days or even over a month in one experement with no heatsink!

tbd2001_01, I sent your Pocket Mini kit with 'Hot' option (and other items) today. (Thursday)

Hope your build goes well! :)

Yes, I remember the thread - that's why my PHR is set to 90mA. Wit the 405-G-1, I'm getting 97mW. And loooong life!

It's all good. I'll simply order copper heatsinks in the future. I'm always looking for upgrades to increase quality of the build.

I do sell the copper heatsinks separate for $27 plus $3 dollars shipping for those who want to swap their other ones out, but I just can't afford to trade every existing Pocket Mini kit out there for $8 bucks...

Hope you understand...:undecided:

Well after quickly killing my first LD. I've got this together with a SF-AW210 set @180Ma and focused at about six feet. I will try to embed a youtube link, but I'm new at this.
BTY - the only reason I can imagine that this thing is sooo powerful would be the custom copper heatsink...

The Marble is yours and the idea is yours, I cheated with an LED I had laying around.

A UV emitter? Nice...

I set the drive to 295mA's for you 8X build. Make sure you let FrancoRob know when you finish your build. So he can add you to his 8X compilation graph.

Thanks for the order! :)
