He said the they were offering broken "sleds" which seems like they're saying the actual PHR-803T sled is damaged. The diode's pretty small, so I don't think it would be a huge concern about it being damaged, but I'm just wondering what they mean by "damaged". Like if the thing is crushed, it's likely not worth it, but if the lens is smudged or a cable is nicked or something, that's fine.

So, basically, I just wondered about the detail of what the sort of damage is. I'm not really ready to shell out $15 a sled when there's no guarantee that most will have intact diodes. A "few diodes out of 20-30"? At 10-15% success rate, that makes the diodes $100-150 each Maybe if they were from 6x burner drives....
according to the supplier "damaged" means they were slightly crushed during shipping and wouldnt play discs. dave the 15$ should include shipping but it may be a dollar or two more. i wont know a definate price until i know how many im going to order so i can ask for a shipping price.

I have one other deal I'm working on right now (not for sleds). I won't know how much money is available until I know what happens with that deal. It is more important to me than more sleds. I should know the first of next week. If it goes through, it will be the beginning of the month before I can dump more money into the hobby account.

That's NOT how you started out Airy. You decided to shift over to paying out of your pocket AFTER the "group buy" was started. You advertised yours as a GB. Andrew has advertised his as a "for sale". AMK held off so your GB could go. Then you decided to buy more than you had commitments for. As a result, your "group buy" has turned into a "sale" that has gone on longer than the commitments would have allowed it to.
The plan was always to pay out of my pocket. People did not trust me enough to send me all the money first. That was agiven. AMK did not hold off so my group buy could go. I discussed this with him prior to starting. Although he did start a GB while mine was still going. I had 130 commitments, a little over even, so I bought that many. People are still buying and checking the forums etc etc. There were no commitments, like I said in my thread, I am not forcing anyone to pay or go through with what they said they would buy. That's one of the most incorrect posts I've seen from you Dave.

So were the sleds in a DRIVE that was crushed? Or were the sleds themselves crushed? Any chance of a picture of what a typical sled from the bunch looks like if they were directly damaged?
