I looked though but could not find a pic so I added one. Cutting the spring board and the plastic housing flush I was able to fit an aixiz module and press the cap on the front

Nice job...

Just to mention that most of the time, you don't use the back 'barrel' part of the AixiZ module unless you absolutely need it for some purpose.

But only the front 'business end' of the module is used.

But in a pen, I can see that you will have much better heatsinking in such a host if you can fit the barrel!

This is actually the first time I used the back half but I figured if it fits why not.

I usually cut a bit of the aixiz barrel off to get it to fit in my pens, leaving as much as I can intact. I always cut at least the part that fits over the threads off though, the more contact the module has with the case the better. Every little bit helps in a tiny pen like that.

The module usually fits a little more snug too, the front half of the barrel is a little closer to the ID of the pen than the module is.

I LOVE these little pens though!

Update:

These are now available in several different styles: ;)

Single hole:
* Black with chrome clip
* Black with gold clip
* All chrome

Two hole: (extra hole above the side button hole)
* Black with chrome clip
* All chrome

Two hole: The two hole ones are a little longer at the front. Like 1/4" or so. These would be easier to fit an O-like module. But the O-like module would still need to be shortened. The extra hole can easily be covered with a warning lable! :)

The hole is easily covered with a warning label or sticker...

IR diodes are case positive like a green build... You need a driver that will work with that. Or isolate the module from the host...

I never got into IR much, so I don't have much advice on it...

No chance for a hot option? Not sure my skills are up to the job of building alot of this myself.

Just a side note I wanted my button to sit a little higher so I glues a couple of small pieces of heatshrink on the plastic under the hole and then put the button on it raised it slightly making it easier to push.
