Re: F.S. ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***
Since you mention this, has anyone had any problems with ESD and the open cans? I have heard many warnings about ESD with the Blu-Rays (I suspect it may be the one of the biggest reasons for un-explained failures of those), but I haven't heard/read many similar things for the open can. I would expect it to be extremely sensitive to ESD if handled incorrectly since the die is exposed to the air. Has there been any sign of this? Do you wear a wrist strap or use an anti-static mat when using the open cans?[/quote]
Honestly, I have not worn my wrist strap yet. I just got it! I have a brass light on my work desk, that I must remember to touch. I also touch my tools to it. So far, I have not had any problems with ESD, I have made plenty of other type of mistakes though. I am sure that the open can diodes are much more 'sturdy' that the blu-ray diodes though. You can tell just by looking at the size difference in the little 'hair' wires at the die...

be very careful with the handling of the open can, and watch out for ESD as well...
