FS: ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***

Re: F.S. ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***

Amk, module I sent you was from Sure Electronics, it was heavier and thicker than others I encountered. In fact, I had to sand off the edge in order for it to fix inside the Leadlight case. I want my module back. ;D The DX modules I have are lighter measured 11.90mm O.D. same as the design’s I.D., I guess that's what the setscrew and thermo compound are for. I am still waiting on the host from DX.

Regards,
TheMonk

Jayrob, I got the heatsink yesterday thanks.
According to your design the I.D. 15/32 or 11.9mm (the collimating module measured 11.90mm) mine measured 12.1mm just let you know. Other than that everything looks good.

Folks, this heatsink not only make your DIY project much easier and give it a professional look, enable you DIY Burner to run at a much higher power and extended its run time, highly recommended.   [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

Yeah...the drill bit sizes that I have, are in 1/64" size differences. My 29/64 bit is too tight for an AixiZ module. And the 15/32 is a little loose. But I have found that, with the set screw making contact on one side if the module, and at least 3/4 of the rest of the module making contact to the heatsink, it is fine. Even with no thermal compound. But still, just a little compound can't hurt. And yes, there are some slight differences in the module sizes.

Thanks for the testimonial!...

ndrew2505, your two heatsinks are done! I'll have them in the mail tomorrow.

For others to know...
I want to post this picture from time to time, to remind everybody that there are now three different MXDL hosts, that I am making heatsinks for. Each build, has a different host, heatsink, battery supply, and driver.

1. 4171 - ($23 plus shipping) The MXDL that takes 2 X 3.6 volt rechargeable batteries for the high powered red diodes: (using a FlexDrive, with 3.0 volt batteries, this host is also great for a blu-ray build!)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4171

2. 3405 - ($23 plus shipping) The MXDL that takes 3 X AAA size (3.6 volt 10440 batteries for the blu-ray build/DDL driver):
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3405

3. 5387 – ($25 plus shipping) The ‘side button’ MXDL that takes 3 X AAA size batteries:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5387
If DX is out of the 5387 host, use the 5095 host. It is the exact same for this build:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5095

The differences in these first two heatsinks, can barely be seen visually. But they are machined slightly differently for the fit into their respective MXDL hosts. Either style, can be fit for an AixiZ module, or a Meredith module.

In this picture, I have marked the heatsinks.

4171-A stands for 'DX SKU 4171 fit for AixiZ'.

3405-A stands for 'DX SKU 3405 fit for AixiZ'.

Note: Since we now have the FlexDrives, either host can be used for a Red, or a blu-ray build. So I will be marking the heatsinks with the DX SKU number of the host.

Just to let everybody know this. There would be no misunderstanding on your order, if you said 'I would like a 4171 - Meredith, and a 3405 - AixiZ'.

Here’s the new one:

Here's my tutorial on the build:

I am going to keep posting this picture from time to time, so that new ones will understand...
Jay

P.S. Once again, besides the MXDL host & heatsink being different for these builds, the battery configuration will differ, depending on which driver you will be using...

Re: F.S. ***MXDL Custom Machined Heatsinks***

me take a blu-ray heatsink for the 3AAA MXDL

giveittome!!! ;D

and a couple 3ohm resistors would help too ;)

you got any open can diodes that are NOT in a Meridith converter? if yes Ill take one a those too.

regards,

amk
