BTW I found a promising boost chip that can theoretically go up to 3.5A!
Im currently working on layout for a prototype ... if all goes well it will be a sub $20 driver. The only drawback is this will not be a continuous ground driver, so it can not be used for any diodes that have a common node with its case(like reds).
