FS: Jibs Linear Drivers

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Crazy idea - couldn't you put like a 1 megaohm resistor across the diode (-) and (+), to always keep the capacitor discharged?

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Yes you could do that. You could also put like a 10K across the dummy load's LD+/-, this prevents leaving the cap charged. Just have to account for the additional current draw, but @ 10kOhm its going to be less than 1mA.

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

aw man i didnt discharge my caps....maybe thats why its broken..when i first turned it on. the laser was dim..and then it got instensly bright and hit myself in the eye...luckyly it was way out of focus and all that happend was it made my left eyes see everything yellow lol.

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

wait, i think i found out the problem. i just built a dummy load. and hooked it all up. and my driver doesnt even heat up...i think the driver may have been damaged. when i did my laser i didnt secure the connections with heatshrink. maybe i shortened it out and destroyed a component.

The IC has internal protection for heat and over-current, so it should have been ok. If its not putting anything out it could be a bad IC. Send it back to me and Ill check it out. PM sent.

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

ok il send it off first thing tomorrow.

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

For those of you that wanted more than the limit, the initial wave has died down enough to lift the restriction. I have 28 LM1117(1.3A) and 16 LD1085(1.8A) left in stock.

I have 108 LM1117 and 72 LD1085 PCBs coming this week. :)

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

It doesn't even seem like you make any money off of these? you could sell them for so much more.

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

I don't make much at all, not nearly enough to cover the time I spend building them. Laying down 100's of tiny solder paste blobs with a syringe is a pain in the you know where. Ill be converting an IR toaster oven into an Arduino controlled reflow oven using and my custom power relay and thermocouple digitizer circuit. Im also looking into getting a solder mask made. If I can get those done it will greatly improve my ability to pump these out without having to raise prices.

Well all I can say is thanks for giving back to the laser community for helping everyone who is on a tight budget. (like myself)

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Rick I received my drivers today, thank you man I appreciate it these are awesome:)!!

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

ok, ive sent out the diver yesterday, you should receive them within a week or so. let me know if they are faulty or not :)

Re: FS: LM1117 Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Hey jib, I would like 3 more 1.8A drivers. Can you test them before shipment? Thanks!
