I'm thinking of getting away from the FL style hosts and building 2 handed multi diode sub gun shaped hosts, I need 6 batteries and 2 diodes minimum for my next concept and flash light style hosts end up getting longer and longer, why not have the batteries run parallel to the optics.

The below image could employ a forearm strap at the tail, or simply rest upon the forearm.

Have you looked into airsoft and RC batteries? you could fit 6 cells into a 2x18650 host if you can find the right battery. well, the length of 2 18650 batteries, and maybe the width of a C or D battery. it really depends on how long you wish to power that laser. The cheap ones allow a 15A peak discharge

I like it :)

RCB, someone needs to fix that 599 rep you have and roll it over above 600, I would but I have given out too many reps in the last 24 hours.

I have all kinds of aluminum plate and bar stock, I used to build a lot like that before that level of heatsinking was needed, but now it can be useful again, so I will end up building my own and adding some fins, I have a pile of scavenged heatsinks to thermally bond to and adorn my 1960's looking ray gun creation.
