Niiice  8-)

Ah... I hate to play the noob here, but I take it there's an LOC in there...? 450mA = maybe 280mW-ish...?

Is the barrel (anodized finish) mint? I'm a material boy, you see, so all that glitters...  :P ;)

More like 250mW-ish...

Your lucky if you get 280mW...

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Actually in a Kryton you could easily see 300mw. I've got one that's pushing 350mw although I don't know the current it's set at.

Why a Kryton in particular? :-?
Doesn't it use a standard AixiZ acrylic or Glass?
What makes it more special than other hosts (other than the fact that it looks cool)?

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Rkcstr is reporting that his driver is only able to produce up to 430mA!  Are you sure you're getting 450mA?  Did Rkcstr make this special for you?

At 430mA, an LOC diode, with an AixiZ acrylic lens, will be putting out around 250-270mW (no matter what host it is in).  The Kryton just allows for better heat sinking than many of the hosts we use (plus it is really cool looking).  Better heat sinking would allow for longer duty cycles, but not more output.  Of course, a Rkcstr being driven at 430mA will also be producing a lot of heat.

Unfortunately, lighting a match doesn't tell us much about the output power.

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** I should note that you can burn stuff VERY, VERY well with 260mW of red laser light. You don't NEED >300mW to light matches and pop balloons ;)

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

BUMP still for sale any offers.... i no u guys want this :P

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Well Dave... he'll be able to test the output power of his Kryton as soon as his new LPM arrives.. ::)
That is if his LaserBee I arrives before he sells his Kryton... :-?

I think Jake is just just guestimating the output of the Laser's power...
but on the other hand I'm not sure if he has a DMM to test the rkcstr driver's output current.. 8-)

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

yea i have a DMM... and i cant wait till the meter comes 8-) when i check the driver it read 450ma with new batteries, unless it works its way down to 430ma idk its still a damn nice laser :)

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Jake,

I'm new to the modern world of SS lasers. I have a background in gas lasers, ie: HeNe , krypton, argon ion etc. although I recently bought a few greenies from Optotronics. I'm looking for some blue/violets/reds in the >100mW range. Please let me know what you have available, along
with basic stats.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Hey Jake there are a lot of members here that have no clue as to to
the value of your Black Kryton laser... and probably won't post or PM
because they don't want to sound rediculous... :-?

Maybe a giving a starting price would get the ball rolling for you... ::)

Re: FS: Black Kryton >Make Any Offer!!!!!

Indeed. Here's the best thing to do. Start with a amount that you absolutley won't accept below and put in on the page. Cause that's most likely what you'll sell it for. Especially in this economy.
