FS: 18650 Cree Aurora Copper Heat sinks

Mo is not even selling whole kits, just a dozen or so heat sinks.

There is no need to pull the 'respect' card in this situation. You're kind of over reacting. You're saying that he needs to talk to you before he makes a new heat sink? Come on now.

It's not an over reaction, it's just a simple statement...

I've said my peace, and that's about all I can really do. I'm not going to be dragged into a big huge debate about it.

It is what it is...

Freudian slip. :tinfoil:

Heres to things that dont smell right

It's just common courtesy between sellers on LPF not to copy each others designs. Showing mutual respect to each other...

I don't feel that i've "copied" any designs. This process is simple and there is only one way to do it. Fill the void, add a hole. That's all there is to these things. It would be a different story if i came along selling an exact copy of one of egh's custom hosts.

There is no end to the different hosts and designs that can be used...

If you think about it, there really aren't. Not practical ones anyways. If you take all the hosts, find one that accepts an 18650 battery. Then we take the ones which are an affordable price, which I stick around the $10 range. Then find one that actually looks good.
From that you have to find one that has enough room in the head of the laser components.
If your VERY lucky you can find one that has an inside diameter close to a standard size, such as these being very close to 7/8" which makes the process a lot easier.
If you can manage to find all of these features... Jayrob already sells it.

i'm not going to tell someone no when they want me to build something which is a standard heat sink for a popular host. I feel the same way for anyone who can sell something i offer for less.

It sometimes seems you've taken the hobby out of it, and turned it into a strictly for-profit business. If people can afford your kits that's great, but most a lot people cannot afford some of your prices and nobody expects you to lower them.

Now whether i consider my time less important than you do yours, or I simply have more of it to waste, i can offer stuff which is more affordable to people on a budget.

You've built up your reputation to a scale that you can't even make your kits fast enough to keep up with orders, so I don't think there is any chance of me harming your business.

If I've stepped on your toes, there is not much to say as I cannot truthfully apologize for it. I spend $2.60 a gallon on gas because oil companies won't step on each other's toes.

Well all I did was mention it...

And as I said above, that's really all I can do! So there's nothing more to be said really. If that's the way you feel, then so be it...

As far as you thinking that I have 'taken the hobby out of it', I don't think that even remotely applies...

You will find that I have many threads which are strictly tutorials and projects. A lot of my projects turn into kits, but by far not all of them.

Anyway, enough said...

Sorry Jay, I have to agree with Mo on this one. You're "sales" are 100% of what you do here. Even your tutorials have sales threads included. You used to take time and help people with their non-Jayrob projects. You dont say a peep anymore, unless its sales related somehow. And you a fierce competitor on top of it. You're worrying about Mo making a few heat sinks? Thats silly. Jeff is your competitor, not Mo. He is doing a lot of people favors here. He helps the hobby, and make a few bucks doing it for his time. You're just here to make as much money as you can, period. I think you need to take a step back and look at yourself, because the hobby is gone for you.

I dont think this thread in the BST forum is the right place for this. Might be better suited in the other or trades feedback and dispute resolution sub forums.

Id just hate to see this at the top of the list in the BST forum for the next few days if this gets heated...

I really don't know who you are, or who you think you are, or who you came back from being banned or something, but you don't know a thousandth of the conversations I have via PM, and the help I give to members with questions and so forth... (over 5000 messages in the past 3 months)

I made a simple statement in this thread, and your all over me. You don't know what your talking about, and it's not your business.

It's not my style to argue in the forum, but you need to get off me. You make statements like they are fact. Like you know everything...

I never give neg rep. Maybe 2 in 3 years. Well you deserve it from me...

Mind your own business, stop making claims about me that you know absolutely nothing about...

If you took a second to click on my sig you'd know who I am. And you already own me 3 +reps that I told you to keep. When I'm backing you up its a pat on the back, but I give an honest observation and you freak out. Learn to take criticism, and admit when you are wrong. You're no better, or worst than any of us. You can run a lathe, oooooo.

I can take proper criticism, but you making statements like trying to say that I don't help people is ridiculous...

You don't know what you are talking about. It's not right for you to try and make a statement like that. Period...

There are a ton of people that know I have helped them...

But you are probably right that many others may not realize that, because I have so many kits and stuff, and I am often posting updates in my sales threads.

So point taken there,

But saying in an open thread that I don't help people is still way out of line, and WRONG!

Jayrob's existence and hard work makes it possible for so many to get into being hobbyist. I know I personally have bought multiple kits from him as have most the members here. He buys all kinds of different hosts, test them out sees which ones work well and offers his finding to the rest of us. He is an invaluable member of the forum and in my opinion he is the mecca for hobbyist. He deserves a great deal of respect.

I think he was just jumping on the bandwagon. These ARE cheaper and a lot of your things ARE expensive. Your copper modules for example are 25$. These entire heatsinks are 25$. Also, you have a month backup on orders. (Even though I still don't understand how your are backed up, if it is on the manufacturing or simply putting them in the mail)

If people can get them quicker, cheaper, then they will.

Monopolies aren't good for anyone but the one with all the eggs in their basket. Competition keeps the prices from becoming inflated.

Now Jay IS extremely helpful via PM. He doesn't post but doesn't need to.

I think It would be nice if more people made the same things. I don't really have anyone to buy from because Jay is backed up and Jeff doesn't offer it.

I think we need to encourage more people to make kits and pieces. I think it is needed. Even if it is the same thing. We NEED some competition here.

Jay surprised me a bit, but I understand both sides.

Thanks yobresal! :)

Toaster, I can't compete with Moh's pricing on these copper heatsinks...

But a module is much harder to make than a heatsink in case you didn't know...

In fact I hate making those copper modules! I'd rather make two heatsinks instead of one module!

I'm sure Moh is finding out that working with copper is not the same as aluminum!

You are correct, I apologies.

Things were getting a little heated, and you know me.

I know you're a huge contributor here Jay. I'd just like to see you more on the open forum. I'm sure many more people would too. The help section is getting thin out here.

No amount of machines are hard :) Its how well you know what you are doing.

Ok well then, apology accepted...

Toaster, you really don't know the amount of work there is involved in making a module vs making a heatsink do you?

You would be surprised. For one thing, the press fit area is a very close tolerance for fitting the diode. And the lens threads must be perfectly centered as well...
