Re: FS: 18650 Build Kit! Easy Assembly! Blu-ray or Red...
ok i dunno if should post this in here, if not you can delete or copy and paste it in the right place, it does have to do with your kit though. well i used a WH08LS20 which can be bought on ebay for like 155. this is an 8x blu ray burner. i could not find a red diode in the drive, or it's a weird looking one so i didn't realize it was a diode. i got a flex drive and set it to 350ma or so and i run it in jayrob's 18650 arora host. i let it run for like 10 min or maybe even more... at least 5 min i can say 100% for a fact. my bff was writing stuff in wood and drawing pics. of course i gave her my red tinted green laser shades for some protection. the front part got a lil warm, but i didn't feel any noticeable heat through the housing.
i dunno if this is a good finding or if it's only because the heat sink doesn't transfer heat through the anodized body, but just thought i'd share my duty cycle. the light doesn't dim or anything. the host doesn't get that hot... just a bit warm. as far as weather here... whoevers can look that up to have a better judgment. i have no idea what my laser is putting out exactly cuz i got no LPM.
i'd like to think that it's because the heat sink is great, and the diode i got is very efficient. i will let you guys know if and when this diode dies
