FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

Once again it turns out i might have been too conservative with the expected powers..
A PHR-803T diode can reach 117mW at only 90mA with a Meredith lens, as shown by Jayrob in his awesome MXDL builds! He mentioned a 30% increase before, but i never imagined this! It's almost 50% more! :o

This means that overdriving will NOT be necessary to reach >100mW with the 405nm AR coated glass lenses.. Even 90mA will have an amazing power, never mind 98mA..

This is great! I've never been this excited in my life! ;D Can't wait to get the custom lenses.
It would be amazing to reach that kind of power safely.. Even more amazing if the 405nm coating could increase it a bit.

Cross your fingers and hope for the best! Some prayers might be in order as well.. :)

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

This is sounding better and better - soon you might say that we are getting 500mw out of those lazers! ;D

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

Nah, that's a "bit" too much.. :D

I was just being careful from the start.. Better to have a positive surprise in the end, than a negative one.

But i thought it would perhaps be necessary to increase the current to 104 or 109mA, to reach >100mW, but in fact, 98mA will probably do >120mW if not more!

The thing is, i don't even know if the Meredith has a multilayer AR coating for multiple wavelengths or if it is meant for reds.. If it has a 650nm coating, the 405 coating could even be a little better. Or the fact that it's gonna be a bit thicker could cancel this out. Or it could be a couple of mW less at the same current. I won't know 100% for sure until i test them, but i will get more info soon (transmittance curves from the manufacturer).

The lenses are being made to have a focal length between the acrylic and the Meredith. This means they will be closer to the diode and since they have no rim, the entire surface of the lens will be exposed to the light (no light will be blocked). The beam will be a little tighter than with an acrylic, but the focusing might be a bit easier than with a Meredith. I could have went with a shorter focal length, but i know some of you like to burn stuff.. ;)

I ordered 24 lenses with 405nm AR coating and 6 with a multilayer coating, so i can compare them... The multilayer coating could decrease the power a tiny bit, so i decided to go with more of the single layer ones for our Blu Rays for now..

This is going to be amazing! The lenses will definitely be worth the price at such an increase in power!

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

Grrreat, I have changed my signature to >120mw blu-ray. :D

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

Well, it might be too soon to tell for sure. But 120mW will definitely be possible to reach with the lens one way or the other, but i can't say exactly how much just yet.

I will tell everyone what power exactly to expect FIRST. Then you can decide if you want it or not.. So i'm taking a big risk with these.. If they don't work out i'm screwed. But from what i've seen now, they WILL be better, than i ever expected!

For now, your laser is still gonna be an >80mW untill you stick the special lens in.. Then it's gonna be a monster lazor! ;)

I am going to make readings with and without optics for each of your lasers, so i can calculate the glass lens power after i test them...

But just think of it.. If we learn the higher currents are still safe.. :o

The scopeguy is excited beyond belief! Also, still looking for lens housings.

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

;D I think we all are..

Thanks for all your help Scopeguy!

Will you be offering the lenses separately or give up your source?

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

After i test them, and confirm they are good, we can do a group buy. With enough interest, the prices could be lower, than what i'll pay for the first round.

I don't know how many of the first 30 will be left over tho. Pretty much all of them are spoken for. And GBs take long.. If there is enough interest, i could have another "smaller" round made and offer them separately.

I wouldn't want to stick hundreds of lenses into the lens nuts tho... They will require the plastic AixiZ lens nut, with an o-ring to support the front face and the retaining ring (opened up of course) to keep it in and well centered.
If we should order many in the end, i would probably prefer to ship a bunch of them to the US. This way people could save on shipping as well.

Unfortunately, they can't be bought in small quantities, as they are being made according to my specs.
And at the moment, i'm much more worried about getting the specs right.

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

I should be getting some transmittance curves for the custom lenses soon, so i'll be able to tell more then.

I'll be in the workshop at my company all weekend, working on the lasers, so i might be slow to reply. Mostly i'll be checking my email. I really need to work now! :)

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

BTW, second batch all spoken for. Not going to take any orders for a week unless someone cancels.
You can still express interest and wait a bit. The price IS going to change after the reviews are in tho..

Here's the second list:
Scopeguy20 - 2x mini gray laser
Daguin - Pen laser
Onboost - Mini gray laser
Timbojones - Mini gray laser
Will - Mini gray laser
GamerBR - Mini gray laser

I have your special wishes written down. I'm gonna try to do these as fast as i can.

Thanks for all your support!

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

Is it time to start a third list? I want at least one soon, so I can write a review! I sure believe I'll be impressed, in fact I already am! LOL!

Make some pics during assembly and after they are ready, and post them after of course :).And use the better diode on mine lol :D

Re: FS: >80mW Blu-Rays, two models: $185

I'm sorting out the weaker diodes, and will offer them at the same current but as a slightly lower power and at a lower price.

All of your diodes will be the more powerful ones. So far i only found one, that was a bit weaker.

Well, i'm not gonna do a third list just yet. I have more than enough work the moment. Need to finish these first.. :)
I'm working on the modules at the moment. I will know the powers soon, and i'll try to get as many out this week as possible.

Later i will be doing them one by one if someone orders.
