FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes (SOLD OUT)

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

You normally don't need to worry much about voltage, the diode will draw what it needs (2.2V) and the driver will take whatever it needs (usually like 1-2V). I'd start out trying to supply your little driver with 3V (like two AA's) and that will probably work. Undervoltage would be a good mistake as it won't kill it. Overvoltage could though.

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

Ok, I'll just mess around with it and try an LM317 type circuit. Will send payment for 5 of them for now. If all goes well, I may order another 5.

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

They will be out of here, in Monday's mail

Thank you

Peace,
dave

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

The seller also has a 10-pack of the 7mW diodes with a starting price of 19.99$ (buy-now price 29.99$), no bids yet.
Ships to the USA only, however (at least doesn't specify prices for overseas shipping).

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

Yea, I saw that too yesterday, but I think they're basically the same thing. I bet if you ran this at 50mA vs. 30mA/40mA like it says, I'm sure you can call it a 7mW too.

Actually. it says it under the "Absolute Maximum Ratings" it says "output power 7mW", so yea... they're the same thing. I'd rather buy from daguin though lol... I'll get it faster + I'd rather support him than an ebay seller.

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

Everything paid for over the weekend shipped this afternoon.

Peace,
dave

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

Sure, but he also has "shipped to the US" only...

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

No. "Shipped in the US", means that the price ($10) includes shipping in the US. They are 5 for $10, shipped in the US. International shipping is a couple of dollars extra.

Peace,
dave

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

Yeah, I got mine dave, thanks. I broke one of them by accidently disconnecting then reconnecting a cap on a DDL driver :(. But for $2, who cares? I made my next one and it works great, I'm very happy w/ it. I'll post a pic soon, although I can't really get a beam shot. For anyone who's wondering: You cannot use the driver from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5914 or at least, I couldn't get it to work anyway I tried it. The led on the driver lit up, but it would never light the diode, no matter what combination I soldered the pins (yes, I tested the diode afterwards to make sure 1. i didn't break it and 2. it was the driver which didn't work). Also, you cannot see a beam at night, only a VERY faint beam if you are looking RIGHT behind the pointer. Aside, I think these a great little diodes which seem very bright. Compared to my 290mA Long Open Can red, they both seemed ALMOST the same brightness side by side. They also both reached pretty far. Bottom Line: I think they're nice diodes to get a little orange-redish color for very cheap. They seem bright and were well worth it. I may get another 5 soon Dave, I just need money cause I'm BROKE (16 yrs. old + got no job = no money :( )

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

I got the diodes and tried to use them with the driver of:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13377
sadly, its reversed polarity, so i cant just mount it on that. would be so easy just pull out the other one and pull in the new. the focussing host is a 5.6mm one!!

Re: FS:  635nm 5mW Diodes

That's quite the deal Dave. Great stuff for some fun project building and good DIY experience.

I just received my 5 diodes, very well packaged in a small box with some antiestatic foam.

Now i have to wait for the host....

I'll give you +rep for this.
